Everybody keeps asking that question, lol. The only real way to know where to start is by reading the code associated with it.

How much would a throttle controller be if needed...which I hope it isn't.

I believe the VTC unit is about $180 dollars, but you missed my point (probably because it was not made very well). For about 1/2 that $180 a person can buy a base code reader and have an actual useful tool. I hope all works out well with your car. I was taking a childish shot at the VTC product.

Get the car to the dealer. It could be any number of things, from vehicle speed sensors, throttle body, pedal sensor. Without a code(s) anything is just a wild a$$ guess. Like I said earlier, cold, single digit temps can cause sensors to lose their mind, so to speak. It may be something, it may be nothing.

Yeah, you're right, screw the code. I don't need the car to tell me what's wrong with it. I'll just keep throwing parts at it, eventually I get to the part that actually needs replaced. It's more fun that way, anyway.

Now your talking! Facts? Who needs um! There is nothing on these cars that another catch can or throttle controller won't fix!

If it is just the throttle sensor (the one on the pedal and code P2138) its about 80 bucks for the part (your mileage may vary) and how ever much they charge to install, it can be done by yourself (like 4 bolts and a plug) in about 10 min if you are really slow.

You could really do yourself a favor and swing by an autozone or some auto parts place, and have them read the code, it takes like 5 min and is free, then and only then will you know exactly what is wrong. Until a code is known, I think its your muffler bearings that have gone out causing a back pressure causing the engine to vent through the throttle body...

Actually for even less than that ($20), you can pick up a Bluetooth code reader from Amazon. Funny that all these people are jargon the VTC, but no one's even considering the previously proposed user error issue with the calibration. Mine was calibrated correctly, I run a ported TB, and no issues.

Remember to save your old parts that weren't the problem, that way if another problem arises, you can reuse your old parts again and take the new parts back off. Full circle

I see, so if you have a second car with no CEL, you know it should be good. Consider that your parts car. Full circle X 2
