Throwing Maggie belt

Hi guys, I'm the new guy here. I have a 2009 g8 Gt that I installed a tvs1900 on. It's running a 2.9 pulley in the front and cog drive in the back. I'm having an issue with the belt walking off any time you give it a decent amount of throttle. I swapped the 102.5" belt for a 101" and it does it still. I know my car isn't a Camaro but there seems to be more info on this board than the G8 forum. If anybody has any tips or ideas as to what I need to look at I'd love to know.

Ben

Not sure what rib setup your running, but first thing i would look at is getting a 8 or 10 rib setup. Most people see good results with a 8 rib but running anything smaller then a 3.0 pulley i would look at a 10 rib setup

Check your idler pulleys for bent bolts, that and the pulleys being out of line will throw the belt, had a bent bolt on my TVS2300 that I couldn't tell was bent until I went through and removed them all, kept throwing belts until I replaced it with a higher grade.

Everything looks squared off except the blower pulley is farther out than the tensioner pulley. If I run a flat edge from the edge of the blower pulled to the tensioner the flat edge is riding on the first rib on the tensioner. I know my balancer has a bit of a wobble and that might be the root of this but I've never thrown a belt without the blower. Between my cog drive sounding like flipper the dolphin and this, I should've went turbo.....

Mine was square also, got a laser alignment tool and it still looked good, check the bolts and remove the belt and turn each pulley by hand and see if they move up and down or turn out of round, if it's not any of that, check the blower pulley that isn't inline, doesn't take much to throw a belt.

When I talk to magnuson they say it's no big deal that it's not in line. I tried the larger Buick idler pulley and it worked for a bit. Then this morning I was sitting at work seeing if I can get the belt to walk off by hammering the throttle and letting off real quick. Looks like the tensioner tightens and then rebounds too fast causing it to walk. The tensioner arm is also wanting to lean towards the engine. I put a tiny spacer behind the top bolt which makes it more in line with the other pulleys(save the blower) and it's making the belt creep towards the front of the water pump. It's always at the tensioner where the belt walks first. So the only thing I can think of it the tensioner is a garbage design and I should get an ECS unit or my balancer is getting a bit wobbly at upper rpms.

I swapped the balancer out last night. The little wiggle the stock one had is now gone. Belt still comes off when you bury the throttle and let out real fast. That tensioner arm leaning in is going to drive me crazy.

you might have to email or call ECS and ask if it will fit your car
