I posted this question a few weeks ago but I didn't get any responses. I haven't found a way to have it painted. My local body shops did not even want to touch it.

hmmmmm, I see (cigarette)...

I guess this means that we must bump up this thread, until more info is brought to the table.

I would be interested to know this as well. I think the only other way is to careful cover the areas that are illuminated through with painters tape and cut around it very gently. It would take a very steady hand but I could see it being done. How hard is it to remove the radio bezel?

Radio bezel is not hard to take off at all. There are a couple of YouTube vids with the step by step procedure.

Old thread, but I noticed my mylink bezel has some discoloration on top & it's annoying! Car is only 2 years old... But couldn't you wrap it with vinyl?

Finally!

That's unique and beautiful looking man !

You know now, I'm dying to ask, what procedure did you use to spray it, and/or who did it? That just looks awesome...Nice effect with the chrome dials for contrast with the HU's type of red too!

Thanks I was a little scared about painting the mylink unit. I took all the parts off and took it to a body shop and had it painted the same as the car Crystal Red Tintcote and clear coated. I was real happy the way it turned out. The only problem was the paint covers the fan light on the left dial & on the right dial it covers the cold to warm light. It is worth it. It still tells the fan speed on the touch screen when you turn it.

Here's a stupid question, why not have a paint shop mask off those areas so that the paint doesn't cover them?!? If they know what they are doing, they can easily have a computer cut out vinyl stickers to cover those areas for paint. Seems lazy to me..

If that was the case there would be a lot more painted radio bezels if it was that easy. Unfortunately they are tiny, so to try and cut them out is hard. Yes a computer vinyl cutter could do it, but I am pretty sure a lot of body shops do not have access to a computer or vinyl cutter that can make them that small.

my plotter can't handle tiny detail work- how hard is it to get the center air vent bezel off on the leather dash cars?
I used some black paint sold by Ford on a custom dash I did for someone else- the stuff went on SO perfectly and had a soft-touch matte black to it that didn't show fingerprints. I gotta find that stuff again. Plan is to do all the silver in matte black and wrap the door inserts and dash insert in carbon vinyl trimmed to let ABL through.

Not that hard at all. After you take the top plastic trim piece off there are some small bolts/screws holding the leather dash pad on and some clips that just pop right out. The top plastic trim piece just pops out also just use a flat interior trim removal tool
