The 1le is still an enigma to the average camaro buyer. They still dont understand the concept at all.
I think you missed my point, I have a bad habit of thinking people are "in the know" lol.

Did anyone see the 1990 IROC-Z sell at Barrett Jackson Last night. This was a 1990 1LE. I did not know they made a 1LE in 1990. This car only had 95 miles on it. One of 34 cars with the 5.0L Tuned Port Injection and 5-speed manual transmission ever produced. Not many have survived out of the original 34. The 1LE cars were unique as having the large Corvette 4-wheel disc brakes, aluminum driveshaft, spare wheel, swinging fuel tank pickup and a host of deleted non-essential performance robbing accessories (like A/C). These cars were built with performance and handling in mind, and were stripped of the extras. sold for 50K

I have never heard of a 1LE camaro until the current model came out. I was more impressed with the 81 turbo trans am that sold for 100k . Only 700 miles but still a 301 trans am .

That was crazy money. I graduated from high school in 1979 and ran across those cars all the time. Back then I had a grey primer '69 Camaro with a LT1 drive train, that I pulled out a 1970 Vette. I did a lot of spanking on those cars back then! Didn't know at the time, I was racing a potential $100K car. Wish I had a video, but the video devices back then were bullky and some were very expensive. Did have a 8-track though

Speaking of 1LE, years ago a friend of mine bought a retired 1992 Texas State Trooper Camaro. It had the B4C police package and 1LE option. That car was fun!!!!

Resale value? What's that?

If you bought a Camaro for resale value, it was the wrong car for an investment. I bought a new Honda Ridgeline back in 07, steal of a deal. A friend of mine bought a new Taco instead. His argument for the Taco was resale value. LOL!!!! He paid basically what I paid for my truck. Did he get leather heated seats, no... 6 disk CD changer, no... Nav and XM, no... heated mirrors, no... but he got a "real truck" and resale value.

We both still own our trucks... so I don't know when this resale value will come to play, but I've really enjoyed my heated leather seats since listening to XM.

When the original gen 5 was restyled in 2013 my 2010 went up in book value by almost $7000.
Once a desirable style is set in stone and out of production, a lot of times, they go up in value, not down..

Richard Rollins from Gas Monkey garage bought that one. I know that I had a couple of , but I saw a silver one go for 150K. Nice under performing turds, getting big money. why! So many older cars from the mid 60's to 1971, that are way cooler. I need a time machine bad!

I can relate. I graduated in 82 and got the car that everyone wanted. My 82 Mustang GT. That car was so fast in 1982. It's amazing how far cars have come that my base Camaro is faster than the fastest American car made in 1982. Although from a collection standpoint, I wish I still had it.

Yeah, good times. I had a '81 Z28 that I had bought new. Couple of mods and the only car that I ran across that I can remember giving me a hard time, was a Beetle, big tires on the back, and open exhaust. Ate some bug on the top side, but it was close!

Just because ebay starts at x amount of dollars and people want to roll in and lowball you for $50 more than the dealers are offering on trade in because they think it's a fire sale doesn't mean that's what the cars are really worth.
