Help deciding on trim
Hello friends. I've been trying to wait as long as I can before buying, but I'm getting the itch to pull the trigger soon. I flip flop daily on what trim to go with and I was hoping some outside perspective might help.
I love the V8 SS, however I live in Chicago and I'm a little worried about the winter driving. This car will be my DD. I test drove the V6 and its also a quick and fun car, but of course its no V8. I found a 1SS in my area going for 35k after all reductions and incentives, but before tax, title, registratio etc. I found a 2LT for 34k(w/ RS package) also without tax and fees. Lowest advertised price I've found for a 2SS is 41k. I think its mainly down to the 1SS or 2LT (41k is a tough pill to swallow on a new car). Thoughts? Opinions? Any northerners on here who DD their Camaro?

I was in the same boat and had my heart set on a 2LT. Loved the technology.
In the end bought a 2SS. That LT1 is something! If you like all the bells and whistles and 335hp works for you then buy a 2LT. The only reason you would buy a 1SS will be the LT1. Good Luck!

Thanks Tushar! Also do you think now is a good time to buy with current incentives? The prices I've found seem pretty darn good. Or is it possible to see more incentives in the near future?

There will always be better incentives in the future. What maters is how much you need the car now.
Even now you can get a great deal. Look around and negotiate with dealers. You will find something. I overshot my budget by almost $10k but its worth every penny.

Get the 1SS and never worry about regretting not getting one. I made the same mistake once. All the cool tech and leather in the world can't make up for the power of the V8.

I've ordered a 2LT RS. I'm up in Ontario Canada and it will be a daily driver spring to fall. For me, the car is amazing and with 335 hp I'm confident it'll be plenty of power. I'm not the type that needs a V8 to brag about (not implying anyone here is of that nature). If it's your daily driver and you won't track the car or need to go over the top speed the car is pulling on the recent dyno tests (I think it was 255 km/h) then I think a V6 is a smart move...not only will it cost you less to purchase, it will save you money as it will be more fuel efficient and you will save money as it doesn't require premium fuel like the mighty v8.

Coming from a supercharged v6 (2004 grand prix gtp) I wanted the v8. I got the 1SS and haven't regretted it

During my first test drive I drove both the 2SS and the 2LT. Now I drove the 2SS first... had I never driven the 2SS I would have probably been perfectly happy with the 2LT. It didn't feel like a slouch or left me wanting more power. However since I did drive the 2SS first I personally think the 2SS is worth the extra 4-5k. The 2LT is quick and feels great, the 2SS to me is just like holy shit!!! Will I realistically use all that power as much as I would like? No, but I like knowing its there... resting... waiting...

Get the v8. I've done 2 v6s. I'm ready for the v8.

I drove a 2LT and was convinced that its powerful enough until I tried the SS. I was completely blown away. There is nothing sweeter that the rumble of a LT1. Just starting the car gets me all excited. I would strongly suggest driving both trims before deciding...

2SS. And yes, you can DD up north, After you replace the tires (the Continentals I've got work well and a lot quieter than the stock summers on the SS).

If I were to order the car I was all set to go with a 1SS....But, Found a car relatively locally spec'd the way I wanted. It was a 2SS though. I didn't really want to pay the extra, but in the end, the interior and features made it for me. Just picked up today and drove 100 miles in freezing rain home. It' performed beautifully..Glad I went with the 2SS...The interior is VERY nice.. and being an X-C7 owner, it feels like a 4 seat Corvette at a BIG discount..
