Whipple and Cam - Now it's too Loud?
So I got my car back from my tuner this week after installation of a Whipple and a healthy blower cam. Car already had SP Long Tubes, CAI, and a full Atak catback exhaust with cat delete. This set-up before the Whipple was already "loud", but not obnoxious and I loved how nasty it sounded. I am thrilled to now have more than 600 RWHP, but now the car with the Blower and Cam is absurdly loud. The first thing my seasoned tuner said was "your car is too loud"! Don't get me wrong - I LOVE loud, could care less about the back rap, raspiness, and any drone, but we are talking ticket material. Cold starts sound like a earthquake, but it does get a little quieter after warm up. So - anyone add inline mufflers or resonators to quiet their ride down, or am I faced with going with something other than the Atak Mufflers? Any examples out there from any members that had a similar issue?

When I deleted my high flow cats, mine was also too loud accompanied with bad sound. I welded a couple of race mufflers where the cats were before and it helped tone it down.

That sounds like a plan. That way I can salvage a $1200 exhaust. Care to share what type of race mufflers you used so I don't guess?

pull the ATAK mufflers and put on some stainless works chambered ones. They have a few diff ones but any of the chambered ones sound good

I had the same problem with my Corsa. I tried installing a Magnaflow X pipe muffler but it did not help. I then cut the resonators out of my stock pipes and welded them in. Made a little difference but not quite what I want as in a little too loud yet. I liked the Black Heart mufflers Pro Stock John was given to try. They were quiet at idle and not super loud at RPM. These are the ones used on the new Mustangs and he is trying to see if they will be available to the rest of us, but so far no joy.
