LOL. I couldn't care less if you did. I have posted a few things that would fall into this category. There's even a video. A few of them. And you won't see any other cars anywhere around me in the videos. Therefore, it's only me who is at risk. Go search if you're interested. Driving summer tires in the winter months is irresponsible, because you're likely driving around other cars in general traffic in which you could hit if you lost control. If the OP were out on the road alone, okay, he's at risk and nobody else. I'm cool with that. As far as those ZL1 owners refusing/can't afford a second set of tires/wheels for winter, you have no goddamn business owning a ZL1. You should have bought an SS and then you'd have cash to spare for a second set of skids. Go look at all of the totaled-out ZL1s that are at auction right now. There are just some people that shouldn't be driving these cars. If you take offense to these statements, then you might want to reassess your own choices.

What components/fluids are so special that they can't handle cold weather? |

It's not just the accelerator, hit the brakes on those hockey pucks in an emergency and go for a ride and not an enjoyable one.

Take the summer tires off and put on some winter treads and move on! This idea of the ZL1 being so special that it can't be driven in the winter is nonsense. Rear wheel drive cars with big HP have been driven in the winter since the 60's and with all the nannies we have now it's even safer. If you know how to drive in the snow it's no big deal. The only real limitation is the ground clearance. Any rear wheel drive car is not the best car for winter driving but it's been done for more years than 4wd and front wheel drive units have been available.

Change the tires and drive it. The different modes help in inclement weather.

And yes I know what you meant. The term, "winter months" and "temperature" is relative to the area of the country you reside/drive.

Bottomline, it is dangerous to drive on those tires below 40 degrees.

I know that the 1LE, ZL1 and likely the Z28 were not shipped during Winter. A couple years ago I was going to order a 1LE and they could not be built during the Winter. If I remember they started taking orders in March. They stop production so that the cars are not being moved in extreme cold weather.. When these cars came out in 2012, shortly after the Chevy dealer here stored these cars outside. They only did it one Winter. They bought new tires for their new cars. They are now stored inside. I think most dealers that experience real cold temps do the same. No dealer wants to pay to reshod a new car with these tires.
I bought mine in November and had to pick it up in Northern Utah temps were 40 degrees. I got it to my purchasing dealer and it stayed inside until there was a fluke day above 40 degrees. I got it to my tire shop and pulled the GY's off and put the BFG Comp 2's on it and it is currently waiting for Spring. Sucks buying new tires for a new car, but I knew the cold weather tire issue when I bought it. If this is a daily driver for some, I am not sure why anyone would daily drive the GY tires. They are so slippery when it is real cold I am not sure why anyone would take the chance on piling up their car and putting others at risk. Saying your dog has to go to the kennel or no one was on the road is ridiculous. Would you drive drunk with the same excuses? If you can buy a car this expensive, you can buy a set of tires, they don't last that long anyway. Guys are buying the BFG's at $850 a set. Giving up some race track performance for dependable all season performance, especially if it is a DD seems like a very reasonable compromise.

Sorry to say this and I hope it doesn't happen, but one of those bragging will end up in a wreck.
