1st time Buyer

Hey guys, great forum here and I've already learned a lot!

Looking to buy my first Camaro. I have been looking for a Gen 5 between 2010 and 2013. I found a 2013 2SS with 10k miles in the NorthEast for about 25,900. I have a few questions though.

I've learned a little of how the Gen 5 has progressed from 2010-2013 (steering wheel, bits of the ZL-1 suspension, HUD etc.) This particular camaro has an LS3 badge. I apologize if this is an ignorant questions, but do all 2013 2SS's have the LS3?

Also, in general, do you think this is a decent deal? Would you personally go for an older Gen 5? Again, I'm pretty green here and would appreciate any and all input. Thanks in advance for the advice and all the info here on the forums!

LS3 has 6 speed trans. The auto SS is called the L99.

Welcome. The automatics have the L99, manuals have the LS3. As far as a good deal, I suggest checking KBB and/or NADA; they will give you a good idea of the price range.

The 2014's had just come out when I was in the market; after test driving and looking at both side by side, I personally liked the looks of the 2013 SS better, so that's what I went with. It really comes down to personal choice, all the Gen 5's are well built, great cars, so you really can't go wrong.

Good luck in your search

Why are you looking specifically for <13? Just curious, I was because I preferred the tail light styling of the pre 2014's.

Really just comes down to the price range I'm willing to play in right now.

OIC, in that case, don't limit yourself.

There are deals to be had for all model years. What is your budget? Do you have a color preference? Manual vs. Auto?

For an SS, high mileage doesn't scare me too much because of the fact it's not a DI engine, and there are many members here with 100K + with few, if any issues on a well cared for vehicle.

My budget is <26k. Manual for sure. I prefer the 2SS and I would prefer Black, White, Gray's, Silver, and Crystal Red. I have been tending to look at lower milages, but I will try and expand that scale now.

You have alot to choose from, tons out there now. Got my 2010 almost 3 yrs ago for 29k with 11 k miles on it. Prices were still high then so your looking at the right time for those model yrs. Keep looking, searching for what you want. You will know when you find it.

Dealer didn't know what they had... Searched 2 months straight, until I found 1 close to me. Everything I wanted was 200+ miles away and didn't have the right options. Also the price was an avg of 32-34k. Asking was 29 got it for 26. Made my wife get off of work so I can trade in her car. 3k in negative equity. 32k when it was all said and done.

25,900 is a good price IMO for a clean 2SS with 10K miles

LS3 badge is not standard, someone stuck that on there, but the good news is you have an LS3 under the hood! I bought a 2012 LS3 SS with 19,000 miles for 25K, so I reckon you've got me beat but I was impatient to say the least lol

Thanks guys, I set up some email alerts for any that may come up in the future. The wait won't be easy! Going to take a look at the one I was referring to in the original post tomorrow as well.
