Someone mentioned it earlier, but I had an issue with dull leg pain after about 5 hours into a long trip. Turned out it was my wallet causing the issue. Took it out put it in the compartment between the seats and bam! pain slowly subsided. Now if I am going on a long trip I take the wallet out of my pocket.

I am with the guys guessing "Sciatica". My Camaro is a weekend garage queen but when I drive it longer distances or for few days in it I have same problem. I find cars that have a deeply bucketed seat do it to me, I dont know if its to much angle in my hip for to long or if its the edge the seat pushing up hard on the back my thigh cutting of some circulation??? I do know that I would change cars if its a daily driver and your only vehicle over going to doctor and going through a bunch tests and procedures. If you are doing something that hurts you the easiest answer is stop doing it.

I have to be able to keep the seat bottom flat or slight tilt forward or I ended up with bad hip and leg pains. I cant do that in the Camaro the roof is to low and or seat doesn't go low enough either or. Front of the seat all the way down if I raise the back of the seat and try get it even close to flat the head rest hits the roof. I sit with my back almost perfectly straight up which doesn't help with head room. I am 5'10" 210 and with the seat bottomed out I only have 2" of head room (doesn't help I am all torso with stubby legs).

After all that long windedness, I would consider a different car if I were you assuming this is your daily driver.
The Camaro is my daily driver. I called the dealer and they said a manager would call me back, so far they haven't. I really doubt there is anything they could do to take the car back. If I traded it in I would be rolling over quite some debt to my next vehicle.

I could try seeing a doctor, just not sure where to start. Maybe seeing my primary care physician and looking into a referral or something. I'll try putting a towel/pillow down in the seat and see if that helps until then.

Try driving a different car and see if you have the same problem. If you still have pain then there's something wrong with your leg. If it's fine when you drive a different car, then it has something to do with the position of your leg in the Camaro. Seems easy enough to try to solve.

I have the same problem now in my Camaro. Severe right leg/hip pain. Turns out I have a
spine problem. I'm ok driving other vehicles but the fact that you have no way to move your
right leg around in the Camaro makes it worse.

I agree. At one time I had a Honda S2000. The seating gave me Sciatica in my right leg. Got to the point I sold the car. Sciatica went away. Probably should have tried another seat!

When I first bought my Solstice, I would get a pretty good pain that started in my right hip and ran down my right leg (classic sciatica) whenever I drove the car.
I then realized that my wallet, which I keep in my right rear pocket, was the culprit.

So now, I stick my wallet in the compartment between the seats and off I go. Can drive the car for hours with no pain.

The Camaro has a Recaro seat option from factory or can be ordered after delivery, think $1,500 for driver's seat - have you tried that?
They are standard on the Z28 Camaro so if a local dealer has Z28 on the lot or that option seat in a Camaro might be worth checking that out. Available with electric adjusters.

Here is a pic of the Camaro Recaro driver seat:

This also makes sense.

OP might be positioning his leg funny or the pedal is forcing him to position his leg funny.

OP,
What's it like if you run on the highway with the cruise on, so you can move your right leg & foot into other positions?

Hey OP, it's a strong possibility it's the seat itself that might be defective.

It could be something that the seat itself could be ever so slightly higher on one side and no matter how much you move or adjust yourself it could be the simple fact that the seat itself was defective from the factory.

From reading this thread, and my own personal experience...

1) Find a good Chiropractor
2) Take your wallet out of your back pocket before driving.
3) Stretching would be more beneficial than exercise at this point. If there is a skeletal issue, exercise will only cause those muscles to strengthen and further contract - exacerbating the issue that is causing the pain. Stretching will lengthen the muscles and should ease some of the tension.

Not a doctor, just someone who has a lot of back and neck issues but can drive the Camaro for 5 hours without stopping or pain now... all thanks to a great Chiropractor.

I too had the same problem with my legs on long trips and took my wallet out. I also sold my Camaro and got an Impala so I could stretch out more and better seats.

As a chiropractor, I feel the need to put in my 2 cents worth.

1. It sounds like it could be sciatica. Sciatica can be caused by numerous issues:
a. Piriformis syndrome--spasms of the piriformis muscle putting pressure on the sciatic nerve. This condition is often caused by sitting on your wallet. Imagine sitting on a 2X4 with one butt cheeck.
b. Bulging disc in lumbar spine--believe it or not, you're at a prime age to have a bulging disc. As we age, our discs dry out. It's the moisture in the disc that contributes to the bulge. Low back issues (even if they're asymptomatic) can predispose you to a bulging disc.
2. Another possibility is a twist in your pelvis. The way your body responds to structural changed in your skeletal system (i.e. fractures or dislocations) is to spasm the muscles surrounding that area. When the pelvis twists or rotates the muscles in the thigh will spasm as a result.
3. In either case, there are a few things you can do to help the situation.... First and foremost, go see a doctor (whether it be an orthopedist, PT doc, or chiropractor) and get evaluated. Second, make sure you're NOT leaning on the center console. Third, exercise if you don't already. Any movement or stretching can be helpful, even strengthening the muscles....just stay away from high impact exercises and don't use a "sled" for quads.

All that being said, go see a doctor. I recommend a chiropractor first. Not just because I am one, but because over 80% of people who start out with an orthopedist end up having surgery and less than 5% of chiropractic patients end up undergoing surgery.

P.S. Good luck.
