Im not stretching by any means. Isn't this thread about handling which to me means cornering, not powering through the straights.

And not who can get around Laguna Seca the fastest. I can take my big bore straight line motorcycle and lay waste to any of you on roads with big sweepers and long straights. Take them to some tight twisty stuff and I will have problems.

Next!

Yeah it is all relative though, I agree.

Nice! Ignorance and sexism in one fell swoop. This dingbat is a winner.

I'm not a female, and the very first questions I ask myself when looking at an auto purchase is "do I like how that looks? and do I want to be seen in public with this?"

Hence why seeing me in a Miata/Z/GTI is a very rare occurrence.

She did instruct me to sell my car for half-price. Which would be dumb.

Most guys would say: "If you don't like it trade it in or sell it"

Which either idea hasn't crossed my mind. Sorry if you are all up in arms that the new Camaro is great, but mediocre in all areas.

If I recall correctly, some of the very same things that are being said about the Camaro today were being said about that car when it was released but, it seemed like only the "Ford fan-boys" had anything to say when similar reasoning was expressed about the Shelby.

Pot, meet kettle.
maybe its because we have the common sense to chat and discuss on our own forums, and dont feel the need to go trolling some ford discussion board?.

I am still skeptical of this, is there any proof of this run? Having owned an Evo VIII and now driven my Camaro 1700+ miles on all kinds of roads, I can safely say there is no way in hell I would attempt to take some tight turns nearly as fast in my Camaro as I did with my Evo. Is the suspension in the SS upgraded from the one in my V6?

If the proof you are looking for is me being there... Nope I wasnt
These are published times from motortrend. I am just using these times as a reference saying that we have a "ok" base to build on. Any track times can vary. They don't list what the weather was like or track conditions. The EVO probably has better handling but just cant make up the power difference. We saw the same thing recently with the Mustang and its track pack. It handles better and feels lighter.... it just wasn't enough to overcome the camaros power. Is the Camaros suspension great.... No way. But most people will never notice because they will never push it that hard. JMHO on the last part......

I know there are those of you that say well this is a forum and if he doesn't like something then it's his opinion so suck it up. Again maybe it's just the way I was raised but I always try to be nice, until it's time not to be nice. others and the fact they have waited on this car for a long time.
Well said, and you rock.

OK. First off, the Camaro was doomed to weightiness when GM chose the Zeta platform.

All us "old C5'ers" were hoping against all odds that GM would magically carve off 500 pounds from the 4000lb G8 Zeta.

Didn't happen, nobody likes that it didn't happen. Maybe next platform.

Even so, I'd rather pay double for a Camaro SS, then drive a Mustang for free.

Could it be that you are just not as used to the Camaro as the EVO? Big difference in AWD handling and RWD handling. Maybe once you get more in tune with the drive train change you will feel more "comfortable" pushing the Camaro to the edge . Don't get me wrong I'm not saying the Camaros suspension is anywhere near perfect. Hell suspension work will be the first thing I do.
I have noticed that allot of people that don't like the "feel" of the suspension are coming from front wheel and AWD cars.

You need to go for a ride with my friend Scott Hoag in his Mach 1 racer... might give you a better feeling for what a Mustang is capable off.. and trust me he's hit a few pebbles along the way!

And besides.. Mustangs actually do quite well on 2 wheels! LOL!

Yes, a much better reason to buy it would be to engage in a meaningless brand name war and go a few seconds faster than a Mustang.

Who cares about "most people won't even take their car to the limit" that's just stupid talk. If that affected any real decisions, chevrolet would have 1 corvette. And not a Z51/GS/Z06/ZR1 option.

This thread is about Camaro's handling capability, not Treadstone's or Dan3's handling capability.

LOL...I'm not a fanboy...and dish out criticism where it's due...including towards the handling (more so the weight) of the car. But to say it's 'mediocre' in all areas is a clear indication that you're either a) not serious or b)stupid

Find me a car with more power, better handling, and a better fit and finish for 35K (2SS/RS).
