Opinions Wanted - Splitter Rod support on aggressor 2 front end
Hi Guys,
I'm in the process of redoing my front end. I went in for an Aggressor 2 bumper from rideskinz which is a polyurethrane based bumper. The lower grill port on the aggressor is much bigger than the OEM version because of which it has lesser structural rigidity so a brace is required to prevent the front tip from flexing downward at higher speeds. I have 2 options 1. Bolt a steel brace to either the frame or the reinforcement bar and make the lower lip rest on the brace inside and leave the front end clean. OR 2. Put in splitter support rods that are bolted on small steel braces tucked behind/under the bumper. What do you think works better? Here's a pic in which I photoshopped some splitter support rods over the current bumper to give you some perspective.Let me know what you guys think.

I would bolt a steel brace to either the frame or the reinforcement bar, the rod support's wont look right on only the bumper cover.

Thx splat. Kind of leaning towards that now after looking at some more photoshopped images.

Thanks guys I went in for the steel brace. Finally finished up with it.. Had to spend a lot of hours cutting/sanding and getting it to fit initially but happy with the way it finally turned out. The shut lines are not like factory anymore but I can live with that.

How did you fit the mesh in?? I have one also. Made an aluminum brace that runs the whole front bottom lip with 4 mounting spots to the frame.. and I want to put the mesh in finally

Bravo for making a piece of crap product work. Been down that road and won't do it again. Nice work though!

I just bought one second hand and have temp fitted it. The grille does not want to stay put. Hoping it's because it was cold.
I still have my old front cover that I will cut the bottom out of and fasten in so it will be similar to stock underneath and add some strength but this is a pretty cool idea you have done here. The stock inner filler bracket I'm assuming does not go back in? I mean the piece that houses the wiring from left to right across the front bumper. |
