There is no rust under this truck, Ford sure does not build them like they used to.

I hope that isn't a rationale for the 2K unit build cap.. what was the official reason anyway?

Also note on the MSRP: 17.6K.. don't price them like they used to either.

Here is what a $50,000 car should look like after two or three years.

This is my 2007 Lincoln MKX, 2 1/2 years old not a single warranty problem, a perfect car and oustanding vehicle.I only paid $40,000 for this car. Look at the bottom of this car after 2 1/2 years and 20,000 miles. Lincoln even used stainless steel clamps.

I am taking the Shelby in next week and requesting that the car be fixed under warranty.

Im not understanding what you expect unpainted raw cast iron and metal to do when its exposed to the elements. Alot of cars come with uncoated suspension and drivetrain components these days.

None of the steel brackets and assorted other components under the car are painted. These same components are painted on my F-150 and MKX. I was expecting the same quality I had on my $17,000 truck.

The only thing that seems to not be painted is the rearend with exception of the cover. Thats not uncommon. The rearend of my 2000 SS is the same way. Yes it sucks and will develop surface rust unless you spraybomb it now before it gets any worse.

Did you notice all of the rust on the mild steel brackets and formed components. Many of the brackets and supports are quite thin. Most of these will be heavily pitted and weakend in a few years . If you live in Florida near the coast it will be a lot worse.

At any rate several of the Shelby GT500 owners are getting together to go after Ford on this and get the cars fixed under warranty. It will probably get pretty embarrasing for Ford before it's all over.

Well, good luck with that. What is there to fix under warranty, nothing is broke per say. I think they will tell you guys that if something rusts through before the corrosion warranty is up then they will fix whatever breaks. Dont get me wrong, Id be dissapointed too but not much you can do now other than paint that stuff before it gets bad and be done with it. Ive been hearing the same thing with the challengers cast iron components not being coated with something and showing surface rust. Probably just another way of cutting costs for the manufacturers.

That is just surface rust and I don't care where you live it won't be rusting through any time soon. I understand you want it to look nice and all but it is kind of silly to be so worried about it. Just paint it if you don't like it to look that way, not very difficult.

Holy cow. I have never seen that on a newer car. I noticed some premature corrosion under the new Camaros, but nothing like that! Hope they fix that or return your money.

Here is the paint problem we are finding on a lot of the cars mine included. Mine has been touched up. This is happening on the right front bumper where it joins the fender.

The paint is not very good on most cars now. The last 5th gen Camaro I inspected (closely) had orange peel and bubbles in the paint. They also did not spray the engine compartment properly (yet the car was being displayed with the hood open!) and the primer was showing through the pee-thin factory paint.
