Here is the email I just sent to Alan and the head of Field Operations:

Alan,

I want you to take a look at these two photos of a brand new 2010 Shelby GT500 with 30 miles on it and a brand new Camaro.

Remember, you are comparing our top of the line flagship Shelby against a lowly $30,000 Camaro and not their Corvette.

Now tell me which one best represents Quality.

My brand new 2010 GT500 looks like a 25 year old daily driver that has been thru a lot of Michigan winters.

Best Regards

Steve

Well, "lowly" is a little insulting, don't you think? You aren't beating our SS's in every category you know.

I was trying to get a point across. There is nothing "lowly" about the new camaro. I think he knows by now that the Camaro is a better car in performance and quality to the Mustang GT. At least that is my opinion.

Nice Steve, tell us how you really feel. I give you pics and you call my car lowly. Typical Mustang Guy!

And let him know for all that extra money how dare he only get you .01 seconds faster 0-60. I would be pissed too!

Tell him you are starting a F.O.R.D. movement. FIX - OUR - RUSTED - DIFFERENTIALS!

I owed you that one...........Touche!

Wow, as a car lover, regardless of who makes it, I can only imagine how pissed you guys must be! That really sux.
Hope you get some satisfaction from Ford, you deserve it for the $ you paid and the fact it is a top of the line model.
Keep us posted and good luck!

If this is the case we would like to use the comparison in a Youtube video we are doing.

The 2010 GT500 is a total rust bucket underneath.

Thanks for your help,

You should get pics of the independant suspension as well. I hear a Boss is due 2012 and I plan on getting one but would rather not have the solid rear axel.

(Please don't quote C&D on the handling)

Wow, the 2010 Mustang GT has had...literally....next to no quality issues. And yet, somehow, the 2010 Camaro is already a 'better built car'?

I understand you are unhappy with the issues on your GT500, but at the moment we frankly haven't even had time to see if Ford will fix these cars and now you claim that every Mustang is sub par to the new Camaro which, while nice, has had more than a few quality control issues in every trim level many of them more serious than the worst of these. Before you say so no, these issues shouldn't have happened in the first place, but they will happen to every car maker on every monetary level and all any manufacturer can really do is offer to make it right when these things do occur and minimize happenings like these as much as possible.

In all sincerity, and I'm not trying to slam you here, if I were Ford I would seriously prefer to offer to buy your car back and let you go somewhere else and buy another model. At this point I am almost convinced that there is literally nothing Ford could do to make you happy and, to be blunt, were I in their shoes I would think it a waste of my time to try.

Those Ford pix are rather shocking. Just 2 weeks ago I was looking underneath my Camaro while it was getting a custom exhaust and was really impressed on how clean it was- and ZERO RUST. I wonder what my 08 SS Impala looks like underneath? I hope like the Camaro's.

Good luck with your fight. You might not get rust relief, but maybe your commendable efforts will help spare future Rustangs. These cars are badass looking from above ground. I would not pay that kind of money though for the poor qualty you got underneath.

I noticed right away how clean and rust free the under side of my SS was. Also the technology upgrade under the SS are unbelievable. I am very impressed with GM for this. This is not true for all of my Chevy products, had a lot of rust and scratched areas on the undercarriage on my 2008 LTZ Silverado when new.
