Weird question, my car was off and sitting. A sound comes from the dash like gears turning and resetting. I have heard it before and in other cars, anyone know what it is?

It's the mice resetting the speedo. Nothing to worry about, unless it isn't mice...

Yup heard it too, switch off the car, a few mintes later....sounds like a machine shutting down, like the printers going into sleep mode

It did it when the car had been off overnight.

Mine does the "going to sleep mode" a few minutes after i switch it off.

If it was overnight for you, thats probably mice

I doubt there are hard drives in the computers.
Maybe air vents closing or setting into some state when you first shut it off or open or close a door?

it is HVAC related, i just do not know what specifically, i have my speculations, but it'd be nice to find someone who really knows.

I really hope the HDD comment was sarcasm.

Yeah, it's all on flash. At least any ECU design I was ever involved in, going back to the PCM for the 4.0L AMC/Chrysler I6 for the Cherokee in 1987.
