So what exactly does the turbo size have to do with the octane rating?

I understand they make more boost but horsepower is still horsepower. I thought that was what you were worried about, him making 1000rwhp on pump gas.

As pressure rises, so does temperature
Higher boost = higher IAT Compressor maps and effiency comes into play as well

I get all that but I just wasn't sure if the need for c16 was the amount of power or the size of the turbos.

With small turbos yes because you are boosting more. With a bigger turbo you don't have to boost as much. My car made 915whp on pump gas at like 6 or 7psi. If it took me 17psi to make that power I would be worried running pump.
