First Post

Hello All! This is my first post here on Camaro5, I am the ever so proud owner of a 2011 Camaro SS LS3 (Haven't even made the first payment yet). The only car I owned that was almost (not that close) as fun as this one was my 2004 RX8.

It is black on black with the factory wheel, I will have to put pics up later.

I figured this would be a good place for my first thread since I cannot stop searching and reading and buying parts for this machine.

Since I bought her (still have to name her),

- I have done the fog light mod with the harness kit from Amazon.com.
- Replaced the "weak" maf with a "strong" version (I noticed a difference).
-Replaced the factory interior bulbs out for blue LED's
-Replaced the factory fog light bulbs for standard white LED's
- It had a full system exhaust (no clue what brand the LTs or the rest of the system is) It sounds good, but is not a low in note as one might hope. It was installed by one of the speed shops in town, so I would hope it is a fairly decent brand.

While I'm posting, I was having a little trouble finding a build forum. I would like to start a build thread because I have plans to get a cold air intake and learn HP Tuners and tune the car myself, and later go performance intake/heads/tb/camshaft. By the way, I am a mid 20s male, work as a Flat Rate Subaru technician full time, I know my way around a car pretty well (atleast I like to tell myself that)

Edit: Also, I could not take the side badges haha. It had the crome "CAMARO" on the side, with Blacked out SS side emblems below it. However the bow ties are blacked and it has the Red SS badges. Did not go very well at all to me. So, those are gonzo. Only bowties and SS now. I plan to go GM Heritage Grill and run it badge less very soon anyway. My body/paint guy is going to do a 5 stage paint... buff, detail, restore, Im not sure what you would classify it as. He said he will wash/clay/buff 1/buff 2/ buff 3, as well as fix a few dings and dents here and there. Its always nice to have favors to call in!

It's not like he's trying to badge something he isn't in, like a ZL1 or Z28. He badged it with the Camaro flag and that's what he's driving. It looks more "natural" than one of the old logos would anyway.

You just mask a box closer to the letters/emblem so there isn't as much room for overspray to hit. Once you have a small box you can just spray several coats over the entire area until it's nice and thick, then when it's dry peel up an edge and the dip will tear around the emblem(as long as you put it on thick and even). If you do it correctly plasti dip will break on clean edges, I recently did my wheels, tail light trim, and spoiler.

If you do happen to get overspray anywhere you can roll it right off with your fingers, or in my case since there was quite a bit on my deck lid, I just used a solvent to help remove it.

Actually the 6th gen badge is a modern version of the old Camaro Tri Colored badge from starting in the 70's. My 74 had them. So in a way they are retro badges.

That is exactly how I did it. I cut a hole around larger than what I was painting and used painter tape to seal around it. I painted four coats waited about 30 minutes after the last coat to dry and peeled it off. I then took a toothpick to get the plasti dip from the inside of the letters. Believe me it's a lot easier than you think and if you do mess it up you can peel it off. Hey just do it!
