First post here, just picked up #389 (2015, black with AC). An amazing car for the 74 miles I've driven it. The dealer nearly destroyed the paint with all the crappy car washes it received before I found it. 3 step polish, sealant and wax on the horizon, should look completely different when I'm finished!

Welcome. My black paint was rendered ugly from sitting outside the factory, and from bird visits left to sit on the paint until the car arrived at the dealer. The dealer used the same car wash sense you cited. But the dealer paid for a full hood repaint, and a professional of my choice to bring the entire car paint back to life. The professional cost the dealer $900. They also gave me $500 in credit for swag, which I used for a car cover and some other stuff.

mine looked horrible as well with 12 miles on the clock. My dealer's prep/detail shop needs a few lessons.

Welcome!!!

Mine came in to the dealer on a Saturday morning. I went right over there and told them not to touch it. I picked it up Monday and brought it back to my old shop and detailed it myself. They did a few PDI things while I was there that morning.

Got to keep everything that shipped with the Car except for the plastic Steering Wheel Cover. All the detail guys kept trying to take it on as their project for the day just so they could move it from one stall to another.

Loaded it up on Monday and trailered it. It was lightly snowing and close to 0° if I remember correctly...

Waited until May to take it from the old shop to the new one to put the Splitter on. Didn't even have the new shop finish yet.

Thank you all. Oh man, I'm so jealous of your "factory fresh" Z28. This one sat on the showroom/lot for 15 months! Had 24 miles on it. The elbow grease is worth it though, was very happy with the discount.

Been working on the interior the past 2 days. Just finished getting the leather conditioner off tonight after spending the day in the sun (leatherique). That stuff is amazing, seats are flawless now. Thankfully the dealer left most of the interior protective plastic covers on, so it's been easy so far.

Also detailed the engine bay and checked all the fluids. Oil was reading on the lower half of the dipstick (after getting it up to operating temps), so I'll keep an eye out for any changes.

My cutting pads/polish won't be here until Wed, but I guess I'll wash and start claying it tomorrow. That or pull the wheels and seal them far away from those stunning carbon brakes. I guess I'll start a thread on this, will be fun to track the before and after.

I literally drove it 10 miles today, just to help dry the engine post wash, and I get less than 200ft away from my street before getting a thumbs up from 2 guys driving the other way. This is when it looks its' worst! Now that I think about it, the car looks like straight outta Mad Max, dusty, filthy and mean looking. Love. This. Car.
