Tune or Not ??

I have a new 2015 1LE, all stock. Is it worth it to get a tune even though I don't have any mods yet?

Thanks for the help...

I'd wait. I'm waiting and buying a bit at a time, then I'll put it all on and tune.

Depends on if you want to keep your power train warranty

I do want to keep my warranty. Couldn't I always re-install the stock settings from my tuner if I needed to take the car in for work?

You can, but if the dealer sees that the computer was flashed (even though they can't see the specifics of the tune) and it's not documented as service by a dealer, they could use it to deny a warranty claim.

The way I have experienced it and that it's been explained to me is that it's not the mods or tune that necessarily void the entire warranty, but whether or not they can determine that that modification or tune caused the failure. It is very easy to blame a lot of failures on altering the way the engine& trans run from the factory with a tune.

Example would be like if you put different Mufflers on you lose the warranty on the exhaust from the behind the cats back because it's one piece and it's been modified but if the cats fail the mid/cat pipe is stock and covered or if engine blows it's not a result of you changing Mufflers therefore it would be covered. Ect.

Thanks for the help. If I don't care about the warranty, is there enough of a performance gain to justify getting a tune with no mods as of yet?

I am more concerned with getting the most performance out of the car than I am the warranty.

I waited 5k miles before mods to at least feel good that something stupid wasnt going to come up.

The way I'm doing it is intake, exhaust, headers, then tune. That way you get the most out of the tune and for it to be worth voiding warranty.

Yea wait till your car has some mileage and mods. I had warranty word done at around 12K and I have longtube headers exhaust intake and dyno tune. It was something like power module idk but I got lucky I guess it depends on your dealer. I had to get it flat-beded there too

no reason to tune befor you do headers. there's not much to gain at all.

Hell no man, you'd just be wasting money. Get some texas speed LT headers for $800, if you have NPP exhaust there's no point in upgrading that, and then get a CAI. THEN a tune is definitely worth it.

Agree with this ^. Just added LTH and HFC's, and already had a CAI for over a year, but just ordered a tune from DynoSteve. Looking forward to getting it on board. With no mods, I wouldn't spend the money on a tune, dyno or remote.

You are going to love DynoSteve's tune! My car is basically stock, except for cold air intake and axle back...I have the L99 ....when Steve did my tune, engine and trans, it was night and day difference in the car. Highly recommend it!

He did mine too and it is so much better. But the LS3 doesn't get anywhere the same kick from just a tune only that a L99 does so I agree with the others in that the OP should wait until doing some mods first and make sure the car has no issues in its early life.

If he had a L99 I would say tune before anything else...
