Can Anyone help with this strange traffic ticket?

Okay so I was "allegedly"racing a guy on route 9 in MA from a stop light, I got up to about 5 mph over the speed limit when I got pulled over, the other guy got away with no issue, the cop stated that he knew I was "drag racing". He said he was in a good mood so he just gave me this ticket, vs a 500$ racing ticket, I'm very confused by this ticket, will it effect my insurance ? Any input is appreciated, I have commerce and am 19.

That kind of ticket in pa wouldn't go against you if served by a local cop most of the time. Sounds like you got lucky. Take your racing to the track son. That is were the real men find out whose who. Street racing is just dumb. Take it from someone who used to do all that dumb stuff and has lost freinds and cars because of it.

its 25 bucks man but still sounds like bs. go to court and plead innocent and tell them the truth is all i can say. not worth a lawyer. and calll your insurance bc it probably depends on the state and company. talk to the local pd too and see if they can say anything about it

Can't believe all that writing for $25. Comes out to about 40 cents per word!

I wouldn't worry about it. Sounds like BS anyway and I doubt your insurance is interested. It is weird though.

JMHO as always.

I am very familiar with the citations given in Mass. As nice as he was it still is a civil citation and will raise your insurance rates and points on your license regardless of what he may have said to you. Go to court and fight the citation.

I wouldn't worry about, that's not even equivalent to a speeding ticket and a good chance it won't even be reported to your insurance company. Count yourself lucky; got a ticket in town here a while back for 5 miles over (45 in 40), cost me $178. This was my first ticket in several years & it wasn't reported to my insurance (or at least it didn't effect my rates or good driver discounts).

LOL. Actually, a 79 Z/28 only had about 170 HP if I remember correctly. I bought a completely stock one with a 4 spd but swapped in a solid lifter, 370 HP, 1970 LT1 soon after I bought it. That car moved with that engine. Before that I had a Monza that I swapped a 350 into. Like your Pinto, it surprised a lot unsuspecting cars.

Another good thing about a V8 Pinto is that no one is fast enough to rear-end you and blow up the gas tank.

No. It's $25... mail it in and don't street race anymore. Lesson learned.

Could be worse my friend... Recently got pulled over in my new Cruze for doing 86mph in a 55mph and passing in a no passing zone while doing it. Officer walked up to the window and said "That is the fastest I have ever clocked someone in a chevy cruze."
Long story short, he gave me the passing over a double yellow (3pts) and decided to ignore the speeding infraction. Would've been a (9pt) traffic stop if the trooper hadn't been amused by my winter beaters ability to hit 86mph haha. Still gotta call my lawyer to make the ticket go away

I'd say be happy he let you off easy. In Florida we have the option to take a class instead of getting points on record so keeps insurance from going up. You can only take the class 1x a year and 3 times total unless a judge mandates it.

Take it from somebody who's received his fair share of tickets (high school) and has written his fair share of cites as well. He only wrote for a $25 town By-Law violation and not something worse like a state vehicle code.

Mail in the $25 and repeat to yourself 10 times "I got damn lucky." I seriously doubt the "town" has the time or inclination to report to the DMV. It's the DMV who reports to insurance companies. If it never even gets to the DMV, you'll be golden.

Pay the measly $25 and save your one time "traffic school Mulligan" for a day when you've really screwed the pooch. Or just learn your lesson and see how long you can keep that Mulligan folded away in your wallet.

Your car is fast, trust me. Find a safe legal place to prove it to yourself. Good luck and stay safe.

The "truth" is he was street racing the other guy from stop light to stop light, which we've probably all done. It's a civil cite. Pay the $25 and move on. The street is no place to "allegedly" race anyway. Take your car to a track day and have a safe blast!!
