Left the Tstat out of my transam back in the day... Electric water pump and all the goodness

In HPTuners lowest fan can come on is 192 if I remember right... Then it is scaled percentage wise... Stock doesn't go up to 90% fan Spd until 220s... I'll have to check those numbers but they are close

Did a little bit of research on tire weights, now that V720s are also available in Z/28 sizes:

From my V720 thread:

NT01: 30 lbs (shipping weight; Nitto did not list its weight in specs)
MPSS: 30 lbs
RE-11: 32 lbs
R888: 32 lbs
V720: 33 lbs

So, with the V720 tires, you're effectively adding 5 lbs PER CORNER! It is equivalent to replacing the Z/28 wheels with heavy replica wheels, or replacing carbon-fiber GT350R wheels with Z/28 wheels. It might even be worse since the inertial mass gets more problematic as it goes further away from center (radius). This will certainly hurt performance.

Man......

Im a new member on here and am waiting on my '15 2SS/RS 1LE to come in. Yep last minute bubble that got in my head to try out those NEW Musclecars! (69 Camaro guy here! Had 3, just sold one selling the 2 others now).

I was Pro Touring this and that so i figured it might be nice to just jump in and have fun with the same big brakes, LS and 6 speed were all putting in our old cars nowadays... So i grabbed the last '15 1LE avail in Canada, i didnt want a '16 as i really dont like the new style.

I just wanted to say i really appreciate your thread and that its the one ive spent the mist time on since subscribing. Im planning to get the Z-28 bits and pieces (car is not even here yet, was out on the train end of last week and should be here next week sometimes... Its a black one btw... I wanted white!! Oh well!!) and im almost thinking i really should have gotten a Real Z the more i read your posts!!! Lol!!! Naaa, not for what im gonna do with it and im sure i would not notice the difference that much... But i do want to do the aero. I already got the Z nameplates lol!! I also have the rear blade on order as well as the wicker bill.
I just read on your install that you "need" to use the rear diffuser to fit the rr fender flares correctly??? Is that really so? I wanted to skip that part.... Darn.

I really think that kit makes a BIG difference in the cars look. Im not and have never been a body kit guy, but this one... It needs it!!

Anyway, ill prolly start a build thread and post away too, just wanted to say thanks for the inspiration, its always nice to see others and share the passion. Im also gonna be looking for either a Procharger or snail install to up the fun part as im used to big blocks and inches and 4 digit power... This outta be fun!!

Thanks for your kind words, and congrats on the new car! Indeed, you need the Z/28 rear diffuser for the rear flares to end with no cosmetic issue. You could probably modify it to look OK, but judging from your past in keeping classics, I don't see you being settled with OK : )

I seriously believe that one would need much more air flow than what '14+ SS nose provides in order to accommodate the needs of a supercharger. Perhaps ZL1 nose would help out, but Z/28 splitter wouldn't work with it, so it's not an option. I did add a supercharger to my Miata, but I don't think I'll ever come around to installing a supercharger on this one.

X, any oil pressure data pre and post the racing oil pan baffle instal? Also, can you remind me how you are logging oil pressure? oil pressure is bugging me and I am still not sold even though on that GTO they do show some improvement. I need to log before a tire upgrade.

I am behind on my response. Yes. I had them installed in new wheels 2 weeks ago and synced them to the car... All is good!

I'm sorry, I don't. My aftermarket gauge does not have an aux output. The OEM oil pressure sensor is very accurate (compared with the aftermarket unit; they are always showing the same values), but I know from the Corvette world that the refresh rate will not be sufficient to catch any oil starvation issues. Back in the day, when LS7 engines died prematurely at some of the tracks, someone had to use an auxiliary oil pressure sensor to log the momentary loss of oil pressure in some of the the long left sweeper corners. The fluctuation was only visible with high frequency reading, while the OEM sensor readings did not reflect the drop in pressure. In the end, GM upgraded the dry sump, increasing its capacity to 10.5 quarts, and the problem was solved, at least for the most cases.

Long story short, if you really want to dig in, you'd need high frequency readings, and I'd not rely on OBD II readings. By the way, before you discount an improved oil baffling, please keep in mind Camaros come with better sumps than Corvettes (since the engines are mounted higher), and baffling is more effective than what would be the case on a Corvette. What's more, some of the new V-series Cadillacs come with improved baffling from the factory, and GM suggested they're good for 2 Gs. Oh well, we'll see.

I ended up ordering them, and they look good! I'll put them on before next track day.

So looking at the improved oil baffling, is it me or does it look like it has hinges that flap in there during cornering?! Thats what has me worried, metal flaps inside an engine.

http://www.improvedracing.com/images...M-205_2_lg.jpg

Will have to look into external gauge, industrial test grade. Has tobe out there.

That is very common in aftermarket oil pans. Those flaps are all submerged in the oil so they do not "flap" in corner. The viscosity of the oil forces the flap open when cornering and closes when you change direction trapping the oil in the center "box" where the oil pick up tube is. Simple but effective design.

Indeed, the baffling combined with additional oil (1+ quart) in system due to large oil cooler core (not that it's very usable as reserve) should substantially improve the amount of time I have before starvation occurs. There is no long enough corner that I know of to see if it has a time limit, and I wouldn't dare try it on my car anyway. Obviously, banked corners of speedways would not count. My oil analysis results have been very good, so I have a feeling that the system is sufficient, at least at my local tracks, despite using Trofeo Rs and Z/28 suspension.

I played with the baffling using water before installing it (and water's viscosity in room temp is closer to oil at 280+ degrees than oil itself), and it works remarkably well.

No matter what you do, I'd stay away from accusump (unreliable; should only be used as a secondary backup system in my opinion), or overcomplicated dry sump systems that keep an oil tank in the trunk(!!!!)

Juts read through most of your build here. Great looking car man! Ironically, I live in Redmond Oregon haha. Never been to any tracking days but I'm really hoping in attending one this year at grass Valley or Portland. I've been too scared of pushing my car that hard for that long and breaking something so I'very been working on a bunch of little mods here and there.
I've been contemplating getting the z28 suspension set up like you have, after running it for awhile, would you recommend it over a pieced together aftermarket package?

Hey, you're still close by; I'd love to meet up and attend a track day together in one of those tracks.

My 2 cents on the issue:
I definitely would. Z/28, as a package, is designed and fine-tuned by GM engineers, and it is guaranteed to work well. When you go aftermarket, even if you pay a lot more, you can still screw up something in the process, and unless you are very skilled at the track, it would be hard to know if anything is wrong or could be better. The fact that we have an option like Z/28 suspension, in itself, is an incredible opportunity. For most other cars, you have to research into what works, and even after that, you'd never know if you've set it up optimally.

I installed Öhlins coilovers on my Miata about 2 years ago. Since then, I've changed my front springs 3 times, rear springs 2 times, sway bar settings 5-10 times, alignment at least 4 times, finally got them revalved for stiffer (track valving), and I am still not done fine-tuning, trying to find the best compromise in balance, traction, and stability. The core of the problem is that I can't test my car and keep working on its settings throughout a day at the track like suspension engineers do. Rather, I try something new the next time I go, but then the conditions are changed, I might even have switched to different tires, and it's next to impossible to fairly compare the results.
