No, don't feel that way about my Z.

Wasn't really impressed with the gen6 2SS. Very impressed with the ZL1. Like everything about it - the grill, the interior, even the spoiler. And especially the hp and torque.

But, no way would I feel remorseful about a car that's not even out yet? I love my gen5. Will a gen6 ZL1 be in my future some day? Who knows. For for now I sure appreciate what I have.

I will give it the weight loss which is actually the result of shrinking the car, not so much using better materials.
I will say also the drivetrain engineers put together a great package, where as the exterior design team left too many, who the heck approved that, in too many places.

It is pretty clear that reading through different threads many current owners will not be upgrading, many are up around 700 rwhp, and dont feel.the need to ugrade. If you want to cool. I don't feel the new car, so I decided to do a build instead. To me I don't care if my cars is faster or not, but it makes more sense to do a cam and some other things than spring 30 grand to stay current with a design I don't really like.

30k now. Then two years into it when the new gt500 comes out and the hellcat is updated then gm does a 20% off, that's going to be hard to swallow too.

Agreed and with a warranty versus all the pulley, cam, tune responses. I also think that road racers see this car differently than the 1/4 milers. Nothing wrong with that, I use to run a 10 second SRT8 (10.73@128.5mph) with 625rwhp. Once I learned to drive on a road course it changed my perspective. The old ZL1 is a capable car, but the next gen' with the alpha chassis and better engineering all around is going to be a road course monster.

If you're a 1,320' guy then yes, very little reason to upgrade to a car that weighs less, has better cooling, purpose-built steering wheel, next gen shocks, can handle better, stop better, record track footage, etc.

The Gen6 ZL1 could come with 750hp from the factory and I personally would still not be interested in it. It is to "Europeanized" for my taste, especially the interior. I just think it lost the muscle car look. I am sure the car rips though, but I am sticking with my hog, Gen5 ZL1.

Yawn................ Nobody cares! Whatever you buy is outdated. Give it a little time and someone will be telling you how much of a POS your 2017 ZL1 is based on the latest and greatest whatever. Just keep chasing it, some day you might even catch it. Or not.........

Guess I'm old school where I don't need my dashboard to look like a space shuttle. The Gen5 was styled to pay homage to the original Gen1's. The new Gen6 looks like it took the styling cues form the Gen7 Corvette - which is not a bad thing but it moved away from the retro look that made the Gen5 a hit.

The Gen6 looks good, but to me, the front looks like it has more Asian styling (see Mitsubishi, Toyota, Lexus, Mazda) including the rear wing. Don't get me wrong, if I didn't have mine and was in the market - I would definitely be looking at the '17 ZL1 along with the Hellcat and also see what Ford has in store for a new GT500.

I will admit when I saw the release info on the new ZL1, I was a little let down. But those guys in marketing, have to come up with something better, faster, to get us to part with yet more cash. I get the gotta have its, way too much. The amount of money these cars cost is insane. I love to drive this car. It makes me smile, every time it pulls hard and sets me back in the seat. All the years I have had performance cars, there is always someone with a bigger wallet, and can afford to go faster. We have come a long way, my first new car, was a Z28 back in 1984. With a whopping 175HP.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. If a car purchase has been thoroughly planned and thought out, there should be no remorse if everything is working properly.

I love the 6th gen and everything (most things) that GM is doing. With that said, I still have NO REGRETS about my 5th gen. The 6th gen will have better stock performance, but when it comes down to muscular looks, feel, smell, the Recaros, IMO the 5th gen still rules in my book.

I in no way regret buying my ZL1 so perhaps the title was a little misleading. I was just saying that when comparing the looks of the new car, mine, imo, is now showing it's age. Very seldom have I changed cars for the new hotness. In fact, I just got rid of my first camaro after 20 years of ownership. My other camaro, which I still have, I've had for 13 years. I'll most likely hold onto the ZL1 for a long time too.

That being said, after modding, breaking, and throwing away money trying to go fast, it would be nice to have a car that does everything you want it to do without touching a thing. My current car is plenty fast, just not fast enough. I don't want to compromise the driving experience that I've been blessed with from the factory...I've done that several times in the past and have sometimes regretted touching my car.

I gotcha. You know what I do (if there was ever a situation where the newer car shows out the older one)? I detail the crap out of my car(s). That will usually eliminate and/or drastically close the gap out of any remorse from appearance.

At the risk of sounding self centered, my '02 never is intimidated from my other cars (or from most stock cars) in terms of appearance, and that's due to the fact that I keep it in top condition in terms of its detail. IMO when a car is in its prime and it is detailed to the max, very few or no other car will be able to unseat it. You should love what you own and drive, and when its detailed to the prime, it will remind you of when you first fell in love with it and the reason you bought it in the first place.

We could go back and forth on this for ever. As a road course guy I would keep my current car, and buy a vintage Alfa Gtv for track duty. We both like the same thing but have an opposite way of enjoying it.

Some step towards the latest and greatest, I am more interested in the wealth of the experience regardless if it is the fastest newest thing. I have been involved mostly with vintage cars and will say the 5th Gen ZL1 had enough analog qualities, a purposely simple interior, not a lot of electonics overburden, and was a modern 1st gen. I bought the car because adore the 1st gen Z28, but my wife likes AC and all that kind of stuff. I had to compromise so I could have a car we could make trips with, and was fun to drive. The 1st gen will be next as a pro touring car. Just more my thing.

The 5th gen is supposed to look dated. Lol. It took its styling cues from the 1st gen, primarily the 1969. IMO, I think a fully loaded 1969 RS/SS or RS/Z28 are still the best looking Camaros ever made and are nearly 50 years old. I wish the 6th looked more European. I think it looks very Asian; Lexus, Hyundai, Toyota, etc.
