I went with standard for two reasons, it's cheaper and it's more fun to drive. I had never driven standard and since none of my friends or family have a standard car, I searched for a driving school to teach me.

I found a school in Westwood, http://www.westwooddriving.com/Standard%20Shift.html

The instructor was good. I'm glad I went with standard

go for standard, its very fitting to the car and once you get used to it it's fun to drive! plus it's respectfull to the V8 lol

stalled my first car out of the parking lot, started it up and kept on moving. learned to not stall in the first 20 minutes, shifting smooth in about a month.

With the tap shift why would you want a M6?? Auto is so much better. You won't have a broken tailshaft to deal with. Driving in traffic is a pain with M6. Just an old fa#T$ JMO 2cents worth. Good luck in your decision.

I'm going to post just to play devil's advocate... I learned on a 5-spd '91 Grand Prix which had a STIFF clutch (and HUD!!!). But for the last 5 years I've been driving an automatic.

Back in college I had to commute from my dorm to my college (seperate from the main campus). Driving 12 blocks of city traffic during rush hour, stop and go, stop and go,... I could hop on my left left up those 5 flights of stairs to my room after the first year.

If you're doing LOTS of stop and go traffic, driving a manual could get old.

That said, the Camaro's clutch is no where near has stiff as that old Grand Prix. But I just wanted to give you another perspective.

just get an automatic after a while a manual gets to be just a pain in the ass anyway I got that out of my system years ago . But if you feel the need to get a manual for some reason you probably will. I like the automatic with the automatic you also get the tap shift feature and you can get the remote start feature --just tellin it like I see it my opinions only

Yeah, I'm a girl and I can't drive manual. What of it?

But seriously, I'd go with automatic anyway. The car is going to shift faster and more accurately than you are, and there's the tapshift. (Hm..exactly how does the tapshift work, btw?)
