It may also rattle where the back piece contacts the windshield. I folded up some paper and slid it between them. It was effective for the last year, but now it's rattling again... Gonna have to try something else.

Mine was vibrating bad after subs and got worse as time went on. Mine wasn't the set screw that holds the mirror against the glass either. To turns out that my noise was coming from the mirror vibrating within the housing. I had to remove the mirror and pop the housing apart and place some 2 part epoxy between the mirror and front bezel. Now subs play without any background vibration noise!
