If it got fast and then reverted back a short while latter you have BAD GAS. It is dropping back to the low octane knock tables. Car is picking up the gas is causing knock and retarding the spark.
If no difference after fuse pull then car never had low octane in it and is running fine. |

I pulled my fuses last night. Today it did seem more zippy. Before I always felt a hesitation in 1st; like when turning a corner and accelerating there would be a "hitch" when I gave it gas to push through the turn. That was gone today.

I have the LS3. Never felt it was lacking, but did the fuse "mod" last night. Took the car out today and noticed a big difference, mostly in how smooth the middle rpm range is now. Before it seemed a tad harsh, almost like it didn't want to go when I pushed on the gas. I attributed it to it not being broken in (car only has 400 miles on it), but that was obviously not the case. I'm guessing it was filled with 87 at the dealer. So all in all, definitely more punch

Finally took mine out earlier after the fuse pull lastnight. Couple of positives from the fuses being pulled.....
#1. No more pop/backfire on my initial start up like it had been doing prior to #2. Seems to be much more smooth in the mid range gears #3. Feels to have a bit more pep or punch to it now I still have very low miles(400+), but before the fuse pull it felt somewhat sluggish with the engine sounding harsh. Like someone suggested earlier....I think now that I had cycled through the 89 octane my dealer initially put in and having ran 93 octane since, pulling the fuses now has me back on track. Looking forward to getting her broke in now the right way...

Pulled fuses, went and got 10 gallons (in gas cans) of 95 octane.
Lets just say, car is back to normal plus a little.

Good to hear that bro, I was starting to get worried about your car. So can we conclude that it was the fuel quality from certain gas stations?

I have an LS3 and was thinking about doing this, everyone that has done this to a LS3 has not had any problems and it seemed to help? The only thing I fell is strange with the running is at a stop sign or idle it feels a little rough, maybe jumps 100-200 rmps. Was going to try this to see if it fixes it. I have only been running 91 octane gas since I got it but i think the dealer may have put in 87. The car runs good and has plenty of power I feel. Could those with LS3's let me know what you thought if you did this.

So now I guess you'll have to get your gas in a can and transfer it all the time. ![]() Very cool. Wonder what the deal was? |

Might have been the under ground tank full of bad gas? Dunno.

Well I finally got done beta testing the Hypertech programmer for the L99 auto. HUGE DIFFERENCE.... It also has the ability to set the fuel to the higher octane that I use. Did mine with the higher octane, and +200 at each shift point... although I'm going to change one of them back because I keep popping the rev limiter..... I could raise the rev limiter, but really dont want to push my luck too hard.
