If $25 is out of your budget I understand but don't knock it unless you have tried it now with turbos I would do everything possible too cool off the heat from turbos. And try protecting my oil to make motor last as long as possible But that is me

Really? Interesting..

A thermostat can keep turbos cooler too? Tell me more!

Well, I have the 160* thermostat and while it opened sooner to help cooling, once the engine hit its temp, TStat is out of the picture -- now some may allow more flow, but larger Radiator (if boosted like I am) and a larger heat EX with high flow intercooler pump really help.

I also did a 70% distilled, 30% concentrated dexcool mix with Water Wetter to aid the engine and super charger cooling -- that helped a ton.

If you drag race, the Meziere may help, but I've not done that. I'll know more in the summer, but I can tell you, I notice higher engine temps (idling in 118* ambient heat will get your attention for sure!) before I did these changes so, we'll see what happens this year...

If your car runs over 160F then the T-stat isn't doing anything. Just making the car take longer to warm up. If the car is at 170, or 180, or anything about, it is just fully open. A 160 T-stat is just a waste of money and adds to engine wear. Even if you had a cooling system to make the car run at T-stat temp, you wouldn't want your car at 160F. That is not warm enough.

It's hard to determine which is accurate. I've got a total of 6 companies including 4 extremely well known tuners who all recommend a 160 therm and then there is maybe a dozen of people who say don't run it.

What temp does your car run at? If it is over your current T-stat, then this won't help, the cooling system will limit temp. If you want a lower temp, run a 180 not a 160.

Tuners/shops love to sell parts that have little to no effect. Just like trunion upgrades.

My old c-5 had one at 138 k miles it did 558 rwhp and was ran very hard when we had it the next had a put a bottle on it and 187 k miles maybe he should pull thermostat so motor doesn't wear out to fast
