I know this is a beer thread but, trying out some Macallan 12. Never had it before. It's okay, I'm not sure it's worth what I paid.

25 y/o is drinking silk... If you can get your hands on a bottle of Cask Strength, it's amazing.

I've always wanted to try some Mcallan, but, they are pricey.

The 25 year is over $2,000 a bottle, so, I'll pass on that.

Slowly getting on a scotch/whiskey kick, even though I've been a die-hard craft beer snob the past several years.

Yeah, the last bottle I bought of 25 y/o was $200... that'll tell you how long ago that was.

Saw THE Michael Jackson at a single malt tasting he hosted at Timber Wolves in Houston... had my ass handed to me by him for smoking a Cuban Partigas Robusto prior to the event.

I then went on the single barrel bourbon stint... those are real good too.

I used to be a homebrewer back in the 80's and 90's... member of the Foam Rangers in Houston. Kegged everything. I lived at DeFalco's in Rice Village next to The GingerMan. Good times!

Right on man!

Although, you must be pretty darn old! LOL!!!!!

I'm hooked on Glenmorangie and Glinlivet as they are decent. Lot of people suggest getting Blue Label, but at sub $200 a bottle, that is a bit out of my range.

Depends on what you consider old I guess. 54?

I had some Bushmills Blue when I was in San Antonio a few weeks back, and was surprised how good it was. It was light, but very smooth.

You're still young my friend!

I've seen bushmills around local stores.

Have you had McAllan before?

If you have some suggestions on good whiskeys both under say $60 for regular drinking and something $150 and under for primo once-in-a-while drinking, let me know

New brewery opened here in Richmond. I had a delicious beer (Crucial Taunt) DIPA. Support your local!

OK this forum is after the newbie's heart. I am a home brewer. I just finished off kegs of IPA (brewed with Simcoe, Amarillo, and Cascade hops.) and an Amber Ale (Used Munich for a base malt, added 1/2 pound of Caramunich II for a touch of complexity, bittering charge only of Sterling hops). I just tapped a beer made with Red X and Cascade hops only (SMaSH brew Single Malt and Single Hop) I haven't tried it yet as it has to carbonate for a week. If anybody has tried Stone Brewing's Pataskala Red X IPA, Red X is the only malt they used in this.

For Commercial beers I am a huge fan of almost anything Odells or Oskar Blues. My pallet is all over the map. I like a well crafted malt forward beer as well as a well crafted IPA.
