A/C issues

I broke my a/c clutch coil sensor when changing my a/c belt. I barely touched it and it pulled away from what appears to be is a magnet. My a/c clutch does not engage at all now and of course this means no cold air. Can I fix this without replacing the entire compressor? If not, how hard or not hard is it? I don't really trust the Chevrolet dealerships in my area.

See picture below for part.

Ordered a clutch replacement kit. Will try that once it gets in. Tried messing with sensor and putting it back with the copper wires lines up but didn't seem to work. Oh well.

FYI, when trying to determine which adjustment shim you will need for the clutch drive plate. The air gap clearance is between .30-.60mm or .011-.023 in.

The part came last week and was damaged so shipped back. Got a refund and just ordered a whole new compressor. Arrives today. Will get it installed soon.

Much better decision to replace the compressor. Refrigerant oil will need to be added to the new compressor. I would also recommend this an additive called "ice32". www.ice32.com Your A/C will be much colder and more efficient.

Will have a local dealer replace it due to time constraints. Instructions from GM mentions the oil will need to be added. Don't think I need that. Before I broke it would freeze me out easily. Thanks for advice on that though!
