Gen 5 & 6 V6 exhaust comparison

Just curious, has anybody research as to why the new 2016 V6 sound much nicer stock than the 2015. I know that the 2015 is an LFX engine and 2016 LGX. I seen a few videos and I like the sound of it stock. Anyone?

I don't know why the LGX would sound so much better than the LFX. They are pretty much the same engine architecture, 3.6L D.I. DOHC 60* V6.

Are you sure you're not comparing an LGX with the NPP exhaust option to an LFX without NPP? I think my non NPP LFX sounds great. No, it's not some big honking burbling V8, but I do like the exotic car like sound it emits at mid to high revs.

I don't know. What is the difference other than dual exhaust activated based on RPM by opening a flap. Are you saying that if I put a dual exhaust on my 2015 is going to sound as good as this? http://youtu.be/mPB1KL45ins. Forward the video where he floors it.

I don't know if it will sound just as good. Remember, the 6th gen V6 comes with a sound tube enhancer that pipes in exhaust sounds into the cabin. Someday, maybe there will be a DIY article on how to retrofit that sound pipe device into a 5th gen.

Everyone have their option on exhaust upgrade, but all agree the LXF is too quiet. After I bought my NPP on Craigslist for $275, I was surprise to find it is direct bolt on without modification. During the first time startup, the NPP sounded like no muffler. I used chicken wire to wire shut both valves, until the vacuum valves are connected.

Exhaust

Installed Dynomax VT axle back on my RS, love the fact there is no drone at constant highway speeds, lowered the tone at startup and when you hit the loud peddle, it roars and puts a smile on my face every time.

Can you record a video to capture the sound and post?

Posted two videos. Couldn't get a direct link,as I am a newbie, but search Dynomax axle back start up 2013 RS Camaro, and Dynomax Valvetech axle back 2013 RS Camaro test drive. There are some others also posted. Stated in startup vid that it's a cat back, but it is a axle back. Hope it helps. Ken The dyno sheet sent with axle back VT claimed 15rwhp max improvement and 17 torque gain.

That's what the convertible option is, right? :-)
