replacing rear BA speakers
ok, yes I know the question was asked before, yes I searched through pages and pages but have been left with more questions than answers. yes I know its a job to do. not looking for top of the line here fellas, just something that's decent for the price
1. so am I correct in saying I need to replace the amp AND rear speakers to actually just replace the speakers because of the odd stock wiring? 2. if so what amp should I use?? I have no need for a sub really 3. to hook up said amp I need a fark harness? 4. what speakers should I replace them with? again decent for the price, not looking to break the bank it has been a long time since I wired up a full on stereo, and this seems all a bit new to me. thanks.

1. The amp is the weakest link. Upgrade it regardless.
2. JL audio makes one the fits in the stock spot. Just search around or someone will mention it. If you don't have the answer by tomorrow I'll look at mine. If you go with this one the sub thump mounting board will help. My amp was $180 on Amazon. 3. Yes Fark harness. They go go around $50 used in the classifieds. 4. No idea on speakers. The removal and install scared me from doing it. |

rear speakers
Saw your post and wanted to comment. I have a 2012 ss.. with the BA system. I INSTALLED A JL XD400/4 AND MOUNTED IT IN THE FACTORY AMP LOCATION AND USED A FARK HARNESS and ******** mounting board. I also mounted a jl xd600/1 and installed the jl stealthbox. I then installed jl650 c5 speakers in the doors. I had intended to replace the rear speakers at some point but been running for two years with factory ba rear speakers and it sounds great. A better amp makes a HUGE difference. I NOW HAVE NO PLANS TO REPLACE THE REAR DECK SPEAKERS UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS TO THEM.. GOOD LUCK WITH THE INSTALL. Forgot to add... if I had it to do over again... I would have gone with the jl 700/5 amp and run the sub and door/rear deck speakers off of one amp... I believe the 700/5 has roughly the same footprint as the 400/4 and will work in factory location.
