Weird financing question - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Hey everyone!

I was going to buy a camaro ss and my financing company says they will not do it if thw car is registered out of state. Has anyone ever ran into this? Did you find a way around it? The private party I am buying from says he wont transfer the title to CA. Too much time at the DMV.

Find a new finance company. It must be a small company.

Yeah i figured so but they offered me 2.99% which ia hard to pass up.

So, the owner has the car registered in another state, I take it. The question I guess, is how long have they lived in Ca? Most states require registration transferred within 90 days. If he's been there longer than that, it is not a valid registration, and for a private party sale, I would think this would raise some red flags for a finance company. Heck, it would raise some red flags for me as the buyer. I have learned that any time there is any issue with registration in a private party deal, it's best to just walk away.

It is probably because they want the private seller to sign off title in person. My Credit Union required this.

My credit union said the same thing to me has to be in state. I had to go to a bigger bank to get a car out of state.

Yeah I figured as much so just going to walk away from this purchase. I believe hes in military so stationed differently. Oh well. Thanks!
