Right, that is exactly how these are , nice and mellow just driving it, then roar when you rip it. Headers do provide a unique sound...

Today, perfect day to double check the subframe bushing torque again. I've been checking them since I noticed a squeaking noise driving under 20 MPH some time back. Last 2 times I've checked it they were fine and so was today -- no issues.
While I was at it, I checked the 'toe' on the front again after I did all the work on the hubs, bump-steer kit, and inner tie rods. Very small adjustment needed. I'll take it to get a 4-wheel alignment since I did a lot of suspension upgrades recently -- just to be safe -- nothing appears out, but the performance shop I use is top notch and rather be certain -- this helps me know that what I'm doing is right or wrong with the QuickTrick alignment tool -- so far, it gets me very close! -Don

Car is finally re-aligned and setup after all the latest suspension mods. Drives oh so nice!
Shop guys love driving it ;o) -- they can't 'hide' the fact if they get 'on it' while test driving.... Great shop Fifth Gear is -- really works with you to get what you need -- lots of gear heads... Next will be a detailing from ShowroomFX... enjoying the heck out of all the mods. Looking to see what may be next... -Don

Thanks for the tip on the discounted Z/28 wheel bearings on eBay - I got a full OEM set that way and saved a little over $500

Well, found out my JBA sparkplug wires are not holding up. I had 2 start to pop off the coils, and after inspection, found the 'ends' are broken and 'charred'. Ordered the MTI Racing Hotspark wires:
![]() Looks like the sultan of spark coils weaken those ends. Once I get the new wires, I'll show what has happened.... -Don

While waiting for the MTI's, got Steve from ShowroomFX to detail the car again -- looks awesome! Great job -- looks new again!
I know pics or it didn't happen, but, I think I'll spare everyone the overload ;o)... I'll add pics once I start on the MTI's... -Don

Why did you go with the MTI wires over other options?

I know about the Taylor's vs et. al. wars that appear here on the forum but I've used the MTIs in the past with great success so I went with what I had great experience with really. Never had a problem with them when I used higher sparked coils. I guess I'll see if they still do well. I believe they contract those out... Well see. I do like to experiment...
First time with the JBAs and not pleased with how poorly they held up. Thanks for asking! -Don

MTI Racing Hotspark Wires
OK, did the MTI wires today -- very straight forward, like the way they are setup:
![]() ![]() Stainless ends (note the dielectric grease to allow smooth install/removal. KEEP IT OFF the connecting ends): ![]() Here is why I'm replacing the JBAs: ![]() As you can see, these are charred on the ends and the 'retainer' is broken off. I had 3 wires popping off the coils, so, this is why I replaced them. Here are the MTI's installed -- didn't take long @ all -- made sure everything was clicked on and started 'er up... will take it out later and make sure everything is smooth... I put the 'socks' back on as while the boots cleared the headers, I wanted to be certain everything was protected... ![]() ![]() -Don

Took it out tonight and these wire have smoothed out the idle for sure. I'm betting a couple of these wires were going bad, will ck with an ohm meter.
Surprised at how the JBA wires didn't hold up... I'll see how the MTIs do now... -Don
