Easy way to have a tablet in your dash!

Don't know if this has been posted here before but it wont hurt to have another one. This will be my first post on a little idea i had over several months ago. I wanted to change my stock stereo but never liked the aftermarket one that changes the climate control and placing a aftermarket stereo. I try to get the OEM touch screen in dash but the price for them was pricy. So I try searching for tablet mounts. In my head i pictured having a table dash but not having to change any of my OEM parts. Also, having the ability to changing it back to stock configuration when i wanted.

So went ahead and bought me this tablet mount from Amazon. Priced at $25 at the time.

Then at the time T-Mobile was having a free tablet promo. All i needed to do was add service for it. So i placed the basic service for $15. This allows me to stream music unlimitedly from Pandora, Spotify or mostly any other music streaming service out there. So i got the Samsung Tab A to go with the mount.

Now first i had a lot of skepticism because i thought it would look tacky or it would too shaky. Turns out to me that when i drive with this thing its pretty good a handling the tablet. Think of it as one of those cell phone window mounts that stick to your dash.

Overall, I can say that having this is pretty good because it adds more functionality to what my stock radio was giving me. It adds GPS, Video, Apps, and music.

Let me know what you think and if you have any other alternative ideas for this. Or if you have any questions.

Thank you for reading.

Looks good, though I might look for shorter cables down the road.

Do you pull it down every time you park somewhere? As cheap as it might have been, I'd be afraid some ass was gonna bust a window for a $25 tablet.

Admire your effort but I'm not a fan, mount over the radio looks tacky and +1 that thing will be stolen in a matter of weeks if you're not taking it down every time you park. Seriously I've had two cars broken into, one time for an aftermarket head unit that had a removable face that was in my POCKET, ie the body they stole was completely unusable (they broke in assuming they would find it in the glove box) and another time broken in another car for a USED BROKEN alternator in another city. Trust me, a $25 tablet is going to be stolen. Shit, just seeing the mount will probably lead to an eventual break in, they will figure breaking a window is worth the possibility of finding that tablet under your seat, which is probably where you will *hide* it. If I were a criminal, I wouldn't hesitate to try. Plus in some states a car theft is literally a slap on the wrist. Go to jail for an hour then you're out in Texas.

Plus what's the big deal of GPS on your phone? If they're both mounted and you're attaching to a mount, remember you're still DRIVING your car and therefore no need for more screen size. Just my opinion

Edit, I see you're in dallas. This is one of the cities where my old car was broken into. I can guarantee you that thing will get stolen faster than you can imagine.

Was wondering the same thing to it getting stolen. Do you have to put it up each time?

Interesting. I may look into this. I have a windshield mount for one of my tablets. I don't keep it there all the time, which I'm sure the OP doesn't either. I only user it for longer weekend trips or vacations. But I'd like to have it a little lower like the one pictured. It also looks easier to dismount than the suction cup one I have.

Sure, it's not worth having someone break into your car and even stealing your stuff. The weird thing is. The side of Dallas where I live is not a really good area. Believe it or not I have only taken it off about three or four times. I guess it's been luck or something. I'm might be risking it but I haven't had any accidents.

Yes, in my opinion it doesn't look as bad as it might seem. I seen a couple of people saying that it's a really good idea. The mount is kinda ugly and doesn't go with the interior for sure.

I'm have problems with my vision and a small screen doesn't cut it for me. I have found this tablet size a lot more helpful for me. When it's not time I just lower the brightness to lowest configuration. The positive side of using this over your phone is that I don't get distracted with incoming text messages. I just purely focus on my GPS and music controls. While on the road I keep my phone away.

I actually keep it on all the time. I might just been lucky and risking. When I do put it up I leave it in the glove box. And I place the mount on Hehe back seat. It's easy to remove and place it back.

Yes I had a suction cup one before and in most times its fallen from my Windshield. This one has never fallen from the dash.
