That was a great post. Congrats on the speed.
I'm going to a 1/2 and 3/4 mile runway race next month.
Question about all the tape on the front end.
Is it for aero? Or to keep the front bumper from blowing off? Or a little of both?

And, what tires are you using and sizes? Looks like 20" in front with 18" out back?

I'll try to type this on my phone. Please forgive me.

The tape blocks most of the air from getting under the hood where it hits the firewall which is about the size of a small billboard. Due to the design of these and most cars, most of the air that gets under the hood ends up going under the car to escape. Not a good thing at high speeds. The trick is to limit what gets under the hood and give it an escape path. To do this, tape the front end and then remove the weather stripping at the top of the firewall where the back of the hood seals against it. It's easily reinstalled. They put it there so nasty stuff that gets under the hood doesn't end up on the windshield.

Lastly, it keeps the plastic fascia from blowing off as happened to a Lingenfelter car at 170 ish mph.

My bad, forgot about the tires...

Front's, 20 inch wheels with Factory sized ZL1 Good Year Eagle F1 Supercar G2's.

Rears, I think it's a 10.5 inch (maybe 11) wheel with a 315/40/19 Hoosier road racing slick. R7 is the compound.

If your car is lowered you might have a little fitment issue. Our other shop built car runs the same tires... we had to raise his coil overs...

For now on my car, I rolled the fender out a bit to make sure we could keep it lowered... I'll have a pseudo wide body fender flare built at some point in time when I get a whole new front fascia and repaint the car..

Thanks,

It is hard to explain the feel, but I sure try... the joy, the frustration, the heart dropping moments and the elation at finally succeeding...
