2015 1LE Tune

What's up guys, I leased my 2015 1le 6 months ago and I'm loving it. I'm itching to do a couple of upgrades but I'm nervous, the mods I want to do are Kooks headers with hfc and tune I already have a Z28 intake installed. My main concerns are warranty and the engine detonating. Would these mods be safe? I'm thinking of buying a SCT x4 and having dynosteave remote tune it. Thank You GUYS

You're not concerned that you're putting money in mods on a lease? With that said, from what I was told, getting a tune will void your warranty. This is coming from a Chevy service advisor that happens to be my friend. YMMV

I'm not worried about putting money into a lease. And what's the difference of buying or leasing a car and modding it I would have the same concerns if I bought it and was making monthly payments.

Did the same mods on mine, and went with Steve's remote tune via the SXT4. Car sounds great, and runs like a scalded ape! Go for it.

Thanks for the input guys, what kind of gains should I be getting with these mods? also would the mods cause excessive wear on the engine?

A Tune does not void your warranty. That sounds like a service advisor who doesnt know the Magnusson Moss act.....

Depends what needs to be fixed, but i can tell you that when my ATS blew a hole in a piston they wouldnt fix it because it was tuned. you can throw the Magnusson vs moss act at them all day, they will deny your repair.

Right. It all depends on what happens. If the tune caused it or could have caused it.

Do it yourself, Mikey. All you'll need is a set of jack stands or ramps and a weekend if you've never done it before. If you were on the East Coast, I'd offer to help for a few beers. I've installed a few of them myself on LS3's and it was not a difficult task. Frustrating at points with fitting larger hands into tighter spots....but doable for sure. (***and note, I am not a master mechanic by any stretch of the imagination...just an occasional weekend garage monkey).

Then we can only assume that you intend to buy the car once the lease is over. I don't think thing they would just cheerfully take back a lease car that has been modded in such a way (or at all, really).

It does not automatically void the warranty, true, but it certainly could void it if GM can blame the tune for an engine malfunction. Mag-Moss or not, if it can be determined that the tune caused the problem, GM will NOT (and cannot be forced to) honor the warranty.

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't read follow-up post explaining this.
