i think I found a video of the ZL1 that was for sale. This was when it was done up to look like a civic though.

I'm sure there is some sort of buyer protection, but if they take it to court this is clearly misrepresentation and I believe that is illegal.

Also this is kind of similar, from this website: http://nationalparalegal.edu/public_...eInfluence.asp

Quote:
Karl is looking to buy a house in the Salt Lake City area of Utah. Karl contacts John, a realtor, and arranges to see several houses that are on sale. After picking out the house he likes, Karl asks the owner if the house has a termite problem. The house does have a termite problem but the owner, knowing that Karl will not buy the house if he knows about the termite problem, tells Karl that there is no termite problem. Karl and the owner sign a contract under which Karl will buy the house for $250,000. After the contract is signed, Karl finds out about the termite problem. In this case, the contract will be voidable by Karl because the owner made a fraudulent misrepresentation that Karl relied on and, based on that misrepresentation, Karl entered into the contract.
Not exactly the same kind of situation, but still the owner of the vehicle misrepresented it as a ZL1 when clearly it isn't. I still suggest getting a lawyer.

OP, I think your friend should pursue a civil suit against the seller. It may also help to at least contact the local police where she bought the car; the confidence game the seller played on her could be considered a larceny by trick.

How much information does she have about him? I assume your friend took delivery of the car with the license plates still on it? The DMV should have some record of who the actual owner is assuming the car was stolen. The seller is free to price gouge her but the issue is that he represented that the car was a more expensive trim level than what it really is. She could sue him for the difference in the fair market value or try to get him to take the car back.

She should contact an attorney to have him send a nasty demand letter to the seller to see if they can resolve the issue outside of court. But this goes back to my previous question about the seller's contact information. If she has to sue, she'll need the seller's address so she can serve him with notice.

Holy crap. Just couldn't read past page 2, too much, too fast. But here goes, if it hasn't already been said. Fraud is fraud, has no limitation. An individual, a dealership or a corporation, makes no difference.

If your story is true, the seller is going to prison. If the boyfriend is being a hardass and just telling the girlfriend he bought her a zl1 for $35k when he really bought a 10 LS with a body kit for $14k to act like a bigshot (plenty of women walking around thinking their loser boyfriend bought them a Fendi when he really bought a Turdie from that "100% USA Saler" on ebay), then your friend needs to decide if she's staying with that loser.

So I'm in for photos of the alleged female victim... She's got to be smoking hot to be completely covered by mommy, daddy, and BF.

If this thread is more legit than the claimed scam on the ZL1 v-6, cash buy from Craigslist, with not Title in hand...

I would say SOL
