Why is that hilarious?

If they want opinions on certain canned answers, they can post a Poll.

Otherwise, they are going to get varied opinions.

That's how this works.

I agree, at night I have to put my side window down when pulling out onto a street with 15%.

Here in Pinellas County, the PCSO will use the tint for a reason to stop you. Personally I avoid certain mods that give a reason to be pulled over. I like flying under the radar ...

Probably the best response yet.

Negative, sir. With all due respect, the OP asked if tinting the windshield would affect the HUD...not regarding legality, cost, or anything else. Answers to this post should revolve around people who have or have not experienced difficulty with visibility/functional use of HUD with the front windshield tinted.

That's how this works...

It's like reading a post displaying a new Z/28 diffuser and someone saying how much more HP they could have gotten spending the money on a full exhaust.

I truly mean no offense in my response, but I just can't help but roll my eyes when someone posts a thread looking for a very specific answer and people run it off the tracks with side bar conversations that may or may not even be related to the same topic/area of the car/etc. Most of us have been around Internet forums long enough to know how they work...still makes me chuckle when I see how "WHY DIDN'T YOU USE THE SEARCH BUTTON" posts or "well I know you asked about replacing your steering wheel (or insert other component here), but that's illegal, looks ugly, robs you of 50 rwhp, and will cause your car to spontaneously combust due to lack of traction".

Now.... OP, I have wondered this too. I have been considering getting mine tinted too. Thanks for those who have tinted their windshield and have confirmed that the HUD functions fine with a tinted windshield.

Matt

not really. telling the op it's illegal is an attempt to provide him information he may not have know that is indeed very relevant to what he is going to do. comparing a spoiler to exhaust is a complete fail on your part.

Well I finally got the windshield done about two weeks ago. 35% was installed. Looks very dark, however I am able to see during the day and night time just fine. No issues there. Below you will see a comparison between my Xterra's 35% tint and the Camaro 35% tint. The Xterra however - you can see through better than the Camaro. not sure if it is because more windows are in play and more light shines through better? Or if it's because my Camaro has tint and louvers on the rear as well? I'll have to get a better picture of the Xterra since it was raining that day.

Windows and Sunroof closed - including Sunshade closed

Windows and Sunroof open...

Assuming it is illegal, seems like it would be a cash cow for local LEO.

But front plates are mandatory in Texas and 20% of cars don't run them.

Full windshield at 50% and 40% everywhere else, but it's also ceramic and keeps it @ 20 degrees cooler.
HUD just fine.
