So if both cars are stock my question is can any 5th gen camaro ss beat the shelby gt 500 or is that to tall of a task? I kno on the ford forums they would of course say the shelby wins.

If both are stock, Shelby wins. On a road course, I'd say it's a driver's race really. The Shelby is one of the best bang for the buck cars to own, along w/the SVT Cobra.

Im the type of street racer that will only race cars if I kno I have the upperhand you can call it lame or not but hey that's how I roll..I am not that guy that would roll up to a lambo with my 2ss reving my engine and try to race when I kno there is no way I would win unless there is somebody that literally was mentally retarded and couldn't drive a lambo.... If I take the risk street dragin I want to most likely be sure I can and will win ...Even though you never kno what someone has modded on there cars. but you get the point.

Im the opposite...i wont race anyone...at the strip or wherever that i know i can beat....i want a challenge. Ran a 2013 wrx sti last night with good success.

Hey nice crash pic from somebody that was probably drunk or high or both and doin 100+...I don't condone street racing and I wouldn't call myself a street racer unless you consider sitin at a stop light doin 0 to 60 a true racer lol. I maybe do that once a year with some random car on a open stretch with nobody around.

Stock ZL1s should beat that year GT500. Z28s should put up a good fight also. A stock SS has no chance unless driver error is involved in the GT500.

Im way more concerned about drunk..high and distracted drivers. ...still not including just plain bad drivers then I am sbout street racers.

My buddy has heads/cammed/headers/throttle body/ intake/exhaust, etc in his 2014 SS, and we were dead even 10 out of 10 runs when I was stock. He says he was at 540whp, im not sure how accurate that is, but just an idea what it takes to hang with a GT500 on the top end. After my pulley/ tune all he saw was tail lights.

To beat him race him from a dig. GT500 are a B**ch to launch without spinning. If he spins he will be playing catch up for a while. I was running high 13s at the track the first time at the track, and I was getting beat by a v6 mustang. Eventually got down to low 12s stock.

If the GT500 is on steet tires and has a driver that doesn't track often, a modded camaro should take it. Last time I was at the track the 2010+ GT500s were running 12.5-12.9. Couldn't get traction and several drivers were missing gears.
