You can find chenile mitts at WalMart, and I've found both chenile and sheepskin at Pep Boys.

Sorry if already has been asked but I have been told to stay away from the matte black stipes with any type of wax. If so what should I use if anything at all to keep it looking good and protect it.

Thanks you are more then helpful.

Well, I'm not sure I'm the one to answer, as my SS is mainly a "weekend toy" and is parked in a garage and hasn't seen rain in years.

I'll offer what I've used; I tried a few other brands, and I've read about the thoughts on Armor All, but, I've found myself going back and using A.A. "Ultra Shine" on my tires. Its not too glossy, and seems to last long.

I spray it on an old Zaino applicator, wipe the tire, followed by a paper towel to remove an excess.

I've read of others who have used wax/polish on them, but personally, I'd be a little hesitant to do that.

If it were my Camaro with black stripes, I'd just make sure I kept them as clean as possible as much as possible. I believe the quality of the stripes will keep them from fading for a loonng time.

Mine too is mostly a weekend machine and I used a Meguiar spray product on my other vehicles however it didn't seem to last too long. I may try a wipe on gel this time or the Ultra Shine.

Just be sure to remove any excess if you're going to use the gel. Most I've tried sling.

I have a question...

After I've just washed my car and then I take it out and get a little dirt kicked up on it, I want to clean that without washing the whole car. Can I just use a soft cloth and some detail spray to just spot clean or will rubbing the dirt off like that cause swirl marks?

I'd base the decision whether to wash or not on; how long of a ride you went on, what were the road conditions, upon your return, is there just a "light dusting" or is it more, etc.

I've washed my SS, then gone for a ride, and on some occassions, all that is needed is a "light" detailing, re; Zaino Z-6 Detailing Spray and a good quality 100% cotton towel. Other times, I've passed fields where dirt has been blowing, and/or the roads are dirtier, and in those instances, I've washed the car again after allowing it to cool.

Being "anal", in most instances, I'll wash the car again to be safe.

Use your judgement...if it looks like theres a fair amount of dust/dirt, play it safe and wash it again. You'll save yourself more work, washing it, versus wiping it down when it was too dirty, and having to polish the entire car again.

Ed,

Bad news. My mother in laws dog jumped on the side of my car. 2nd day I had the car and he jumped on it!!

Anyway, there are small scratches going down the car maybe 6-8 inches long. You have to look at the car in certain anles to see it but I know they are there.

I tried putting both Z polishes on there and it did not remove

Can you recommend anything to remove these? Do I have a time frame I need to get them removed before they are permanant?

Thanks.
