Mine will have them.

Probably, but what are the chances that any of them are less than 9 inches tall? That's how low to the ground this car is.

We're NOT talking about a pickup or a bus here... this is a very low car. If you hit a kid on a "big wheel" as some keep suggesting do you know what will happen? You're going to push them out of the way.

You have just as much an opportunity to have a kid crawl UNDER the car before you even get in, and get eaten up by the driveshaft or crushed by the wheels when you move in EITHER direction (that darn FLOOR is a HUGE blindspot).

Where's the manufactured outrage over lack of under-body radar child detection systems?

Dear Sirs,

I am outraged over lack of under-body radar child detection systems.

Very truly yours,

Anonymous.

I have a better idea.

I'm going to make every parent buy my new invention... it's a special $370 hemet that you have to make your kid wear at all times that detects reversing cars and it sounds a loud alarm and bright flashing strobe if the car gets too close.

Quite possibly the dumbest response I have read yet...

I found this kind of strange. The owner's manual states the following:

The Ultrasonic Rear Parking
Assist (URPA) system does not
replace driver vision. It cannot
detect:
• objects that are below the
bumper, underneath the
vehicle, or if they are too
close or far from the vehicle
children, pedestrians,
bicyclists, or pets.

If you do not use proper care
before and while backing; vehicle
damage, injury, or death could
occur. Even with URPA, always
check behind the vehicle before
backing up. While backing, be
sure to look for objects and check
the vehicle’s mirrors.

You think that is being said just for liability reasons?

I would imagine so

I hope they put out a color keyed RETROFIT kit ASAP like they did for the G8.

SHIT happens people, the rear vision is BAD, this will help for sure. I ALWAYS walk to the rear of the car and then get in the car. One day I did my normal routine and there was NOBODY around. Thank god I opened my window that day, these 2 kids on bikes came flying down the sidewalk and I heard them otherwise I would have tapped them for sure. I want these sensors NOW!!
