The crown vic or impala supply us with plenty of the necessary requirements and equipment to "get the job done". I would love to see this car on the road for LEO, but NOT when it is in high demand in this economy. Maybe next year when the demand and supply shift, but right now the demand far out weighs supply of this vehicle regardless if it is V6 or V8.

The wrong message has been sent to the Texas tax payers.

The reason I said it was probably a personal vehicle is because a majority of my friendships from out of state LEO is through Texas and Florida troopers...both which were under the impression the vehicle hasn't been supplied. There is no police package for this vehicle ...yet....and the message this sends me is "the camaro is cool, lets get one regardless of price and budget". There are departments in TX who can barely afford to higher another officer or purchase a crown vic and this is being picked up?

I dunno, a lot of the small towns near where I live replace their whole fleet of squad cars every 2 to 4 years. If they're hurting for cash, it doesn't show.

hopefully they don't start making these police cars in all 50 states. Every time I see a charger on the road now I think its an undercover cop. I would hate for people to think that about the camaro. It's a car that should attract people, not repel. The last thing cops in my area need (Newark, NJ) is one more reason to boost there ego. Just would mean more violations for the public to pay for their cars.

NJ is full of the most evil cops on the face of the planet. dont question them dont call 911, dont do anything but get pulled over and ticked for what ever comes into the @!#@#! mind...

well for starters, the officers that get this car to ride in EVERY DAY are very lucky. How would feel if your JOB was to ride in a SS all day long, what a job! I personally drive between San Antonio and Houston now and then, I guess I need to be a little more careful. lol

Thats unfortunate, the G8 is a great car to just let die, along with other Pontiac models. A G8 re-badged Caprice would be a good chance to get larger piece of the police cruiser market.

I hope they make it too, its already a Caprice in the middle east, and its engineered to meet regulations over here as the G8 so it shouldn't be that hard to do ... but last I heard they weren't going to do it.

BTW Believe me, those strobes are plenty bright. For those that said they wouldn't pull over, yes you would. All you are gonna see at night is blinding strobes to the rear view. If you don't, enjoy your prison time. Most people I've pulled over when using the Charger, didn't know the difference, unless they blew right by me in traffic. Amusingly enough, most comments from my stops in it, have actually been neutral or positive. 1st time that's ever happened on stops. Car guys seem to think it's amusing that they didn't spot it. Although the best ones have been the ones that complain that they never would have been driving like an idiot thru traffic if they new I was a cop. I usually tell them, that's the point. To get those that drive like that normally.

no offense to the officers in this forum but as far as i am concerned un-marked cop cars should be illegal. just like photo radar it is just money making racket. it has its uses in undercover work but not for the normal run of the mill traffic violations (ie: 5-10 mph over the speed limit) call it a pet peve. i dont intentionally speed but i do occasionally (as every one else does) go over the speed limit. im not harming or endangering anyone but ill dam sure get a ticket over it. sorry to rant but i got pulled over buy an unmarked cop coming over the pass doing 7 over. even though its a steep grade and he wasn't exactly going the speed limit ether. i told him what was i suppose to do ride my breaks? sorry im just pissed this is the first speeding ticket iv gotten in 8 years. and by the way the ticket 8 years ago was also an unmarked car.
