No. The lesson is not to mod any car under warranty unless you don't care about the warranty.

All of the companies are trying to escape responsibility for their inferior products and a mod gives them what they need to do just that. Warranties are becoming a joke.

Not to worry, the one in your trunk is for the "clean" side of the PVC system.. The one at issue is for the "dirty" side catch can that goes back into the intake.

I'll try and briefly explain from my vantage point. In the past there have been all out media blasts where the person was not truly on the up and up. This absolutely is not the case here as we all know. But when it pops up like this, all sorts of red flags come up and the folks we escalate this too end up on the defense right off the bat. Rightfully so.

In all reality John needed help and got that from an awesome Camaro community. It's in fact been a bit overwhelming. Thank you all and especially Stacy for helping my good friend. So the petition simply ran it's course and time is needed to sort things out now.

Yes we definitely got everyone's attention. Maybe too many. Not sure about the ball though. The company line is still, no mods if you want the warranty coverage.

Thanks for the heads up mlee, hope things work out for him. This is also important to all of us. We need to know if they're going to stand firm on the no mod policy. I have been told by many that "this" or "that" mod won't affect your warranty. I'm not too happy that my new Impala powertrain is now 5-60 instead of my 2015 SS that was the 5yr-100,000 mi. I have had nothing but good service from GM with warranty issues in the past.

The line they should understand is, "he didnt MOD his car for more performance" , he did what he tought would/ could HELP keep his engine in its best shape, clean and also help it live longer!! There is also the fact that they didnt look into the problem's provenance BEFORE (wrongfully on top of things!!) accusing his actions...

But did the petition ran out by itself? Is that what im understanding? What... After you reach 500 it lives a bit then falls off?? Was someone made aware of this before it ran out? Just making sure we dont miss our on somtin'........

Hopefully this horror story ends how it should... With the good guy NOT beeing penalized.

I know how this will go.....

They will goodwill him the engine repair, BUT if you THINK GM is going to say, because of this you guys can run Catch Cans, HELL NO!!!

Consider a CC like a tune, warranty OVER.

Is anyone else as confused as I am on the outcome of this issue? I have read a couple posts by those heavily involved in this and it appears they are saying GM is correct in their position of no warranty for the oil pump failure, its over and the OP has a paperweight in his driveway?

Taken straight off of the FTC website "The FTC says the manufacturer or dealer must show that the aftermarket or recycled part caused the need for repairs before denying warranty coverage"

In this case was the OP shown the connection to a known oil pump failure / problem and how his catch can directly contributed to the failure? What am I missing here?

Yup.

Unless the ECU was tuned of course, then they will know. Removing catch can, and going back to stock, agree with you 100%.

Perhaps....I mean, yes, it would be foolish to mod your 3-4 year lease, that you know that you will be returning for a trade-in anyways.

Perhaps this is where GM is throwing in their cards. These type of people who thrive on credit, to keep the ball rolling. I hate to say it, but many on here fall into the category of trading in ASAP, and hopping on a new car bandwagon, mods or not. I can see how returning a lease to a 2nd owner, with things like catch cans still in place, being a headache for the Pre-Owned used car certification. Correct me if I'm wrong?

Having said that, they won't know squat, if you keep your stock rubber hoses in the glove box, and revert back to stock, from something like a catch-can installation. I can see many now resorting to this unfortunate strategy, in light of all that has transpired in the last few days.

I can revert back to stock in under 25 minutes . Sadly, this will be the status quo, and one which will work well for the end user, until logic and honesty prevails.

It was shut down by the person who started it. It's original purpose is done.

That would be a best case scenario at this point and true.
