True and I must admit I thought it could or might backfire. Not sure if it aggravated things or not but I really hope it didn't. That said I think GM is wrong on this one and the dealer who ran the engine was worse!

I don't think there was more to the story as the mods know and vouch for this guys integrity. What is more to the story is if you have a catch can, CAI your warranty is gone by by....

So sad to hear.
Guess someones wife was right! Again we let em keep kicking us in the nuts and winning. Sorry guess her statement would imply we don't have any.
Guess if it is this company or another they will continue to do as they wish to their customers. Seems there will always be more of us to keep feeding the monster we help create.
Either take a stand or not but bitchin' in here to each other probably does a whole lot of good, as I join in angry as well.
My apologies for the rant Just tired of being part of the 99% the 1% gets to crap on. As I watch them spend money on the event pulling the Vettes out of the sink hole and unveil the millionth car. WhooHoooCares! Good job GM guys, monies well spent for you.
Anybody be of any help getting this ride back on the road, even if the right people don't want to help?
Maybe someone should start a fund me page. I know it's a Camaro a not a minivan with a need to get to work and kids to school heartfelt story, but I'd kick in for a good cause. Especially if I have to rethink new car choices anyway, and no mods to get. Sorry couldn't resist. They can have my warranty and wipe their a__ with it.
Whatever happened to the “The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act " anyhow? Thought it stated-The dealer/vehicle manufacturer has the right to deny a warranty repair but they must demonstrate that the aftermarket part caused the problem. The warranty remains in effect for all other covered parts.
Has this changed?
I know the OP is no longer pushing for it but doen't make it right.

Im sorry, but you are getting railed. Where is the proof that the catch can caused the pump failure? If GM would show that proof then I'm sure most of us would be satisfied with their decision to block your warranty. Blocking the entire powertrain is nuts too. So a catch can can now cause a rearend failure or transmission failure? Like I said in my last post "F" them. I'm done giving them money. They don't give a rat's winky about the folks that buy their junk. So why would anyone support them. Hell, read the 6th gen fourm. It's riddled with people with paint issues that have to fight tooth and nail to be made whole. There wasn't any mods on their cars. Keep upping your prices, lower your quality and say "F" the customer when they have an issue ,and you'll be back crying to congress to get you butts bailed out again. My only hope is that they say no this time.

Sorry to everyone, but I'm just sick of large companies taking advantage of people. They sell products based on quality and great warranties and then hide behind all the find print in that worthless piece of paper when a problem comes up.

Its not just GM. Its many large companies. w

I will start a NEW Petition:

Hear Ye Hear Ye,

Those of you who are currently angry and emotional, making baseless populist statements and considering buying KIAs, I hereby ask that you reach out to me when you are ready to sell your evil corporate Camaros. I will gladly pay thee(that's you) pennies on the dollar to take your Camaros off your hands so you can buy a car of your choice. (maybe try buying a Chinese car, the commies are all about choice and caring for you and your rights right?)

I'm sorry that many don't understand this, and YES, I DO think a catch can helps my motor, but every one of us runs the risk of losing our warranty THE MINUTE WE MODIFY ANYTHING. Set aside your emotions and look at reality.

Would be great to find an attorney to file a class action lawsuit against GM for not keeping the oil out of the direct injection engines. Causing premature failure of the intake valves, reducing the fuel efficiency that they advertise.

Well, I would be foolish to sell my current car to you or anyone just because Im pissed. That only screws me. But I would also be a fool to buy anymore from a company that uses their fine print to escape responsibility from a very well documented and know problem by blaming the failure on an aftermarket part that is unrelated to the part that failed. Like I said above, I will eat crow is issues a formal apology to GM if they provide the proof that the catch can caused the pump to fail. Better read your warrant a lot closer. They even go as far to tell you that you need to have you car serviced by qualified GM service professional at the recommended intervals. Which means all you DYIers that like to service your own cars have just voided your warranty too.
I don't do anything but follow their rules to the letter while my cars are under warranty, because I know they will try to get out of it if they can. I have personal experience with this crap.

I thought the purpose of the GoFundMe account was to pay for a lawyer to make the initial contact with GM. Why refund our money if GM is denying the claim?? Why not push forward with it??

It might have been a waste of time in this case, but we know that this case made it to the desks of some higher-ups. Every time this happens it's another pebble in their shoe, and another voice telling them not to get too greedy. Hopefully it will make them think twice before implementing further restrictions, or at least be more explicit in what will get your warranty voided. If the agreement actually listed a catch can as a violation, the OP (all of us, actually) wouldn't have felt like GM just looked for an excuse to void the warranty.

It's like when a cop abuses his/her authority. One person complains and it gets swept under the rug. Enough people complain and someone takes notice. In this case, if this happens too many times, GM will get a bad reputation, and someone on the fence between a Camaro or Mustang might go with Ford. Several here have already said they'll check the competition next time. Keep fighting the good fight!

The petition was not a waste of time. It did what it was supposed to and got the attention of the people it was supposed to reach. I was contacted by a higher up and the situation was further investigated. GM decided to not fix my car and to leave the warranty blocked. That decision was up to them but it has been explained and I understand why they did what they did.

As for not pursuing this further, I'm a campus cop with a wife and 2 kids. I need a running reliable car, my current transportation is a 1980 IH scout II with a bikini top. Not exactly safe for 2 small kids, and was in the process of rebuilding it when my Camaro died. I know some people would want me to continue but I'm sorry at this point I'm going to rebuild my car and get back to driving the vehicle I love.

Good luck on the rebuild. Sorry it didn't work out. If there's any bright side to this, now that the warranty is blocked you can do WHATEVER you want with the engine.
