I see the handicap card in his windshield. Perhaps it means he is mentally handicapped? Best chance of losing control of a high horsepower car? Cut the wheel and floor it. I'm glad nobody was seriously injured.

I can come up with one possible reason why this guy lost control, by the looks and the set-up of his car he`s probably use to doing burn outs at a drag strip where the track is prepped for traction, on a public highway you have to deal with oil and exhaust road film left from other cars.

He made a huge mistake,at least no one else has to pay the price.

No injuries just a badly bruised ego.

No big deal. Car is easily repairable. Falls into shit happens category. That category will dissappear when we are rolling self driving cars. Road was clear, dude made a mistake so what.

My bet is there will be different shit happening, including shit that you might not be able to do much about no matter how good you might be as a driver.

It reflects badly on the rest of us with enthusiast cars.

People remember crashes but don't even notice good driving or recognize skillful emergency driving as anything more than just blind luck.

Do you really want people to look at (down at?) your Camaro and automatically assume that because of a few widely-publicized Camaro crashes that you're just another Camaro accident looking for a place to happen at?

After you've done something like that once or twice, what's left to prove?

I really doubt that the 1st gen's driver had never done a burnout before, although it is possible that he never had with the car in its current configuration.

mickss mentioned a definite possibility of street conditions being much less predictable and potentially trickier than dragstrip conditions (where you don't even run in the rain).

I've been there, more or less, at an HPDE track day. Hitting somebody else's coolant spill or even a left-over rain puddle doesn't take anywhere near supercharged BBC power to get a nasty ass-end twitch even with sticky tires. Trust me, 300 at the crank in 3rd gear is more than enough to make that happen, and at anywhere from 50 to 85 mph or so it will get your attention in a hurry.

Yup, I'm guilty of autographing a street or two with my Pro Street Camaro. Any car can get away from you. Lots of power makes it easier for that to happen. That's the chance you take when you mash the gas, you kinda know that going in.

Not that it matters but, from what I've heard on other sites the throttle stuck. It's definatly stuck when he starts it back up. Not sure if that's what caused the accident or it was a result of it.

I usually agree with many things you say, but in this instance I don't care how people view me or my car. For good or bad, I hate this nanny society that we live in now. The big mistake here is the ability of smart phones, and youtube.

Still no big deal, but it is since it made youtube, now people can capitalize of stating what an idiot he is.... their dirty laundry just didn't get recorded.

Norm, no offense, but the non-car people of the world (along with the high end import car people - Ferrari, Porsche, Lambo, Mercedes, BMW) already look down on us. Its really nothing I worry about. A crashed Camaro or Mustang added in is not really going to change the overall perspective.

No offense taken, guys.

I can live with being looked down at when it's because my car isn't up to the same price point as the cars being driven by the folks looking down at me. Not a problem here either because I really don't care what they think of my car.

Being lumped in with the people who lose control under very avoidable circumstances just because I drive the same or a similar car is something that does bother me. That's a problem because now they're looking at me personally as being just another careless and incompetent show-off.

I was in th car with a bud in the 70's in similar circumstances. TWICE! I used to say once Butch broke the rear tires loose he wasn't stopping...for a steel post or an oncoming car. And he didn't. But I did live to tell about it.
