Why do situations that involve cars get blown so far out of proportion on here...eveything in society is a problem and needs to be fixed lord help us before anything else happens. Im going out right now to do a burnout and maybe accelerate quickly off the light. Ya that kind of behaviour will be shocking to some but please understand folks there are far more pressing situations that we have to take care of. Its getting to the point now that everything offends people...politicly correct is getting to be bullsh$#t. So if I offended anybody with this post..to bad ...im not saying sorry and not feeling guilty. If I get anymore pissed Im going out and going to change lanes without signalling.....and really when it comes right down to it.....what are you going to do about it? The answer is.......nothing...just bitch.

Find a back road thats hardly used that way no one gets hurt and you keep your license.

Burn outs are considered stunting here in the Great White North and you get a 7 day suspension and vehicle impound and lots more fun to come.

I try not to be impulsive anymore and go to the dragstrip every 2 weeks to get my aggressions out

So a Mustang puts on a show coming around a corner and flies into the crowd and the masses can't get enough of the ball busting, but a Camaro does it on a street lined with people and cross traffic ahead and he's just an innocent old handicapped veteran just letting off steam and people shouldn't be so judgemental?

Pot meet kettle.

What street lined with people and cross traffic. I see two guys at the corner, and an open road.

There is a row of fans watching and if you look ahead when the Camaro goes left you can see a white car move from right to left.

We used to have cars do burn outs leaving the Wheels of Time street rod car show in Macungie, PA and it was a big crowd pleaser, until one of them almost went 5.0 on the crowd and now the police sit at the exit. I'm no angel, but choices come with consequences and you better be prepared to pay it. What is bothersome is when an incident does occur everyone plays the blame game. One person in that video is responsible; the driver.

Mustangs crashing into a crowd while showing off are the norm...camaro crashes are the exception. Do a you tube search and look.....more lopsided then you think.

Excellent point, I just think all the people ready to canonize this driver is going a tad far. True intentions are very hard to ascertain in text format. Same as I'm not vilifing our posters, but trying to keep the point in context. It's a good outcome as no one got hurt, but it's not a far leap to recognize and understand how easily that could have changed.

The driver in the video absolute did something he should not have and I'm sure is regretting it. I never light it up leaving a car show or a race as there are always cops waiting for that down here, but I surely would do a burnout for a condescending Prius owner or bark second for some kids digging the car. I'm not 60 yet and don't own a Corvette, so I can still drive in the left lane.

With that said, my behavior is much different than in my 20s, as evidence by my safe driving record vs revocation for HTO when I was 22. Like many, not all of my friends survived the 80s, and I learned from their and my mistakes. We all need to deal with the consequences of our actions, but for me to get indignant about what this guy did would be the height of hypocrisy.

I think the last line is the key point. This post by the OP was a great public service announcement to remind all of us, no matter what the age, what can happen when we play. Presented like that, its a good thing and we all agree, smile a bit, and maybe it pops into our minds before we do something silly, and we hold back. The problem starts when the OP refers to Gen 1 guy as a dumb ass. I guess that makes about 90% of us dumb asses!

PS: And for the love of Pete rontammy0, settle down. We need you to survive the weekend. Changing lanes with no signal and all. Crazy!

It's good that nobody was hurt. It's bad that an awesome first gen got totaled. RIP awesome Camaro (1968-2016).

I'm right there with ya man. It seems that with all the instant access to media, and everyone having cameras and recording everything, there are just way too many people out there just looking for something to get offended about.

This guy built an awesome car, just listen to that engine, good old fashioned Chevy big block with more torque than I will ever experience. Is he an idiot? No, this one just got away from him, happens to the best of them, just check out some NHRA action. Heck, he's probably got it all back together by now, or at least close to it.

The thing I've never understood about these events...everybody there knows what the cars sound like at WOT...because they have the same kind of car! You're not showing anyone anything new, folks. Be safe out there.

To clarify, I'm not offended. I love cars. I grew up around them, and my father restored Oldsmobiles. We had a national 1st place 1955 Super 88 2dr Holiday hardtop. I've just seen so much stupid in person, I'm trying to put the focus back on the act after people are defending him like he was just another innocent victim. The best thing that came out of this was no one was hurt. Cars are easier to fix than people.
