Watch them call the V8 "GT" and their super version "R." I kind of want to read the rants by you guys when it isn't how you expect it.

I don't care what they call it as long as it beats the car next to me at the track.

The 4th gen was the same. No base V-8. All v-8 cars were Z28. I think GM is trying to cut down the number of build combinations for one.

after seeing the "My Own Worst Enemy" commercial, I think that i'm going to get an SS. You can't even tell it's an SS unless you get REAL close up to it which NOBODY will...

I didn't read much of anything past the original post, and I can understand your complaint.

The whole purpose of the Camaro originally for me was, it's SUPER LOOKS, and it's V8 engine. I've never owned a V8 and have always wanted to own a V8. On top of that, GM's V8's have great fuel economy considering their power.

So, I look at the V6 and I know it will perform pretty dang good but I long for the V8 which at this point I think will be out of my price range (maybe) and fuel economy is not that great.

So...what do I do now? I'm hoping for alot of things while we wait for the final details, but I think as much as I WANT the new Camaro I just don't know if I'll be able to get it.

If you want a V8 Camaro in 2009, you will have to buy a Camaro SS. Buying a Camaro SS isn't so bad, but if you're like me, all you want is a Camaro with a V8 in it... that's it... no SS. It's not that I don't like SS Camaro's, it's just that I don't want anything special, but I DO want a V8, so I kinda have to resort to buying an SS. From there I might decide then that "Hey, maybe instead of getting a Camaro SS, I can settle with a V6 Camaro, and save a bit of cash!" which brings me to part two of my rant, the V6 muscle car.

When I think muscle car, I think a big ass, supercharged 427 V8 in a first gen. Camaro with one of those butterfly-valved intake thingies protruding from the hood. I don't think of all that with a V6 though. I think that the V8 is half the part of owning an old '60-'70's muscle car, and I want to get a muscle car. I'm really stuck in a pickle here. I don't want a Camaro SS, but I DO want a V8, although I probably won't have the money to get one anyway, so i'll have to get a V6, BUT the V6 MUST have those wheels that look like the ones in the concept, only smaller, which may or may not be an option, and I'm thinking it won't. Sigh...
For one just getting a V8 does not make it a Muscle car. My 1974 Camaro had a 350V8 in it, BUT it was rated at only 160 HP, NOT a muscle car by any means, BUT it was still a Camaro. You say you don't want anything special. Then DON"Y BUY A CAMARO!!! they are all going to be SPECIAL...

If you want a muscle car then buy the SS, then if you don't want it to look special then remove the SS badging. maybe get an RS/SS and replace the SS with RS emblems then... Oh then it would still be "Special"

Yes but it will still be an SS which includes the mail slot and wider lower front facia.
