Another Oil Pump Failure

I had my oil pump fail tonight at 20k miles. Thankfully it was while I started it in the parking lot. I was driving the car hard on the high way about 30 mins before. I noticed it as soon as I started the car. Low oil pressure and @ 0. Oil level was good when I checked it right after. Stock pump.

Surprised to see it is a 14, how many miles on the car? Are you under warranty?

Any mods?

It seems to be a luck of the draw kind of thing. I'm at 55K without an issue to date, knock on wood!

Really not that common was more on the first year with the sticky valve, get it repaired under warranty and insist on a high volume and pay the difference if they let you....and you would be that much better off down the road with another 10 or so psi on the gauge at all times.. l99 have a higher volume than a ls3 BTW, go high volume not higher pressure, volume = pressure anyway....

My warranty was void at 3k miles lol. I noticed my oil pressure had dropped about 10 psi a few weeks ago which worried me but i still had ok pressure. As soon as i turned the car over I was at 0 pressure which does lead me to believe its the spring.

Do you have a ls3 or an l99? I've heard the pumps are different because of a in the l99. I've read the threads and there seems to be more failures on ls3 cars.

I just had my second pump fail! The first was oem, the second was a Melling m295. I think the car is cursed. 7500 miles on the car (and 4 track days).

What?! Thought the Melling pump was the fix?

Could it be the oil and how anal the owner is about it being changed every 5K or so?

My oil was still a pretty gold color when I checked it. I run Redline. I guess Ill start the tear down tomorrow. Today is a rest day. Mine was an LS3 and it failed. I guess another cam change is in store to go with my turbo.
