Just wanting to share... Wicker bill install (Z/28 aero kit)

So i get the whole Z/28 aero kit w/all its bits and pieces put on my ride this week and i finally get an occasion (nice temp!) to take her out for the first "drive" last night when going downtown and hitting the weekly car meet (we had 297 cars!! It was a good night!) and my first impression of the install was.... WOAH!!!! Even only hopping on my street i was like, Man..... the difference the new front splitter and rr spoiler make!!! Seriously, i was REALLY impressed to feel the force it was putting against the car. At first, i felt like it was slowing me down or that the car had gained a LOT of weight and that it def could/would not help but instead even be a nuisance to my driving, it was so present.

Then, once on the highway, after giving it some more precise attention, i could feel a bit better the pressure it was creating and how /where it was changing things compared to before the install (1LE car) you know, more like the good side of it. Since ive owned the car, i could never really let go of the steering wheel or wasnt really comfy to hold it "lightly" as it had a tendency of following the lines in the highway made by heavy trucks (roads are of seriously poor condition over here) . But, for the first time, i (tried it) could let go of the wheel and the car NEVER darted at ANY time. It was very cool to see and feel the difference. Im sure its gonna affect my mileage tough.... Lol!!!

Also, a thing i understood merely a few minutes after hoppin' on the hwy was why some of the aftermarket wickerbill's i saw, offer a "drop" or a "clear" section in the middle of the wicker bill they sell.... Yes, the 1LE spoiler is perfect for the car for sure, but the Z/28 unit looks a lot racier (in my eyes) and cooler and also adding the W/bill to it is just the cream on top and looks soooo cool.. But the first thing you notice is that the Z spoiler itself was already higher... Then adding the wicky to that in terms of height just makees it even higher.... But HEY!!! I could not see the cars behind me in my rr view mirror now!!!

My buddy was following me in his '15 Z/28 and i could only see the very top of his w/shield and the top of the car itself lol!!! Yeah, i know that (like all of us car guys) beeing security freaks your thinking "this is not very responsable of him to drive a car you cant see behind of while driving", so i did what i tought any of you would do in my place, beeing responsable people that we are and all and i told my wife that i now had to bite the bullet and get/buy some new DSE 1.5" lowering springs to get some of the "secure" view back out of the car!!

Hey!! Its a security thing you know!!!we dont mess around with security dont we?!? Lol!!! (Well thats how i sold the idea to my other half anyway... lol!!! Yeah, she smiled too, hehe.)

So i just wanted to let you all in on this a lil bit. But seriously, there is some pretty heavy down force beeing applied w / the addition of the kit, (i compared it to driving a p/u with the tailgate opened Vs closed, only heavier at some point) and also, it really never crossed my mind that the height would be affecting my sight before i realised it in the car and it could be considered pretty annoying in a car that IS already real low in the "view" department by some people so there you go, stuff to think about.. .

But it sure looks good/cool!! And i got compliments all night so it was worth it!

I think the car really "looks" higher now, i know its a illusion but it looks REALLY too high to me now as i wasnt so sure i was gonna mess with the ingeneer's work but now, i sure am gonna give DSE or BMR a shot!!! I cant stand the look of it beeing so gapped around the tires/ fender openings.

This is the fun i had at the show later that night... We have to admit the lip on the Z's splitter is quite impressive, and a lot (ok, everyone) of people look at it FIRST as it kinda jumps at ya, and then you can see the look in their faces that they dont get what its for or what it is. So when i saw people (well, the prettier ones hehe... It was a very HOT night so shorts and tiny dresses were kinda the norm...) i jumped in and asked, " i can see by the look on your face that your wondering what this is /what this is for am i right? Laughing was the general anwser and so i just took my coke and put it there and explained it was a shelf to hold you beverage so you didnt get ants and shit in it while washing the car or whatever you were doing next to it!!, lol!!! I had fun... Guess it was a "had to be there" moment.... Hehe.

In all seriousness, check out the gurney lips, they are special to this kit and are not like the REAL Z parts. They are different so they fit nicely over the splitter. If you were to install Z/28 GLip's they would look akward because we are missing the wheel opening flares on our cars (1LE's)

So here are a few more just before we left for the meet. There are quite a few details between the cars. Looking at it face to face, i really liked the look of the wheels/tires and flares /rockers on pictures, to the point i was getting ready to order everything (found an outlet that sells the 4 flares, 2 rockers, painted oem parts for 650$) but now im hesitant. I really like my car the way it looks...REALLY. All it needs look wise to me now is that drop. Im not so sure im gonna swap every part onto it. Weell see i guess....

For those that hadn't noticed, i also got the Z/28 grille while doing the Splitter. I really like that change. Didnt care for the original generic looking grille. This one is Much more refined and sportier looking!! It changes the look of the car soooo much!! Looks much more meaner now. Cant wait to blacken out those eyebrows!!!

Did i mention the aero kit also includes the CLOSE OUT panel underneat?? Well if i did, im sorry but it does, so i also have something new underneat the car LOL!!!

I just need to take care of the RS chrome lip's remainings, and to black out the gold in the trunk's bowtie emblem, maybe a LIGHT window tint, and we should be good... For a while at least. For now, i need to fund the whipple upgrade....
