These cars are people trying to make their car more then it is...simple as that. With so many makes and models from different companieson the road the general public doesn't know what they are looking at most of the time anyway. I had a guy at a car meet last Sat ask me how I like the new Camaro....talking about mine. He had no idea a new model was out.

So.... a man puts a 1LE badge on his V6 Camaro. It tells you nothing about the Camaro, but everything about the man. It means jack squat to the uniatiated. To those in the know, it's a blatant forgery. So, it can only serve to fool himself... If you see him, help him get back to his village, as they are clearly missing their idiot.

It is an inferiority complex, plain and simple. Nobody can define it in any other way. There is no other explanation for why somebody would badge their V6 as an SS, a ZL1 or a Z/28. It is both lame and ridiculous. Enjoy what you drive and be proud of it.

Maybe there is something im missing.....

But, there are actually people in this world with enough time in their daily routine to worry and be concerned about what other people choose to do with their cars?? There has to be something Im missing here, but is anyone loosing any sleep or is their life in danger because of what another person does to their car? Call me crazy, but I have far more important things in my life to worry and be concerned about than what other people do to their cars. On the other hand, it is quite entertaining seeing people get all worked up over what other people do. I love taking my car around 1LE owners simply because my hood is wrapped. 95% dont give a damnx but that remaining 5% though....... #PRICELESS

I'm with you; I see cars of all makes & models that are 'miss' badged or the owner has attempted to make it look like a model/version it's not all the time. Not something I'd do, but not anything that concerns me ... at most it gives me a good laugh at the time. If it makes them feel better about their vehicle, so be it; they and most car enthusiasts know what it really is and non-car people probably won't be impressed one way or the other.

This is going to be a debated subject no matter what or when its talked about. The bottom line is that people are lying to themselves by badging their car differently than what the car is. I've always been of the think that if there's a car that you really want or desire then one should go after it. Compromising by buying another car and then badging it as an 'SS or whatever will just lead to disappointment and embarrassment down the line.

I'm on the other side of the fence from most people here. I usually remove badges, not add them.

I think a car with a clean look is nicer than one with badges all over it.

When the new Toyota Tercel body style came out in 1991, I bought one and removed all badges. I had lots of fun. Everywhere I went people would ask me "What kind of car is that?"

I had two standard answers, depending on my mood at the time.
1/ It's generic!
2/ It's a red one!
