Ordered my Auto because that's what I wanted. Could have gotten a stick just as easy, but didn't want one at this stage of my life. Have had a few in the past ('69 Road Runner for one), back when I wanted to shred tires and go fast. I enjoy the potential of the car as much as anything. Sounds good, and has plenty of power for me, so I'm happy.

At 16 I learned to drive a stick with a 3 speed Corvair on a country road. Good times! After nearly 40 years I've driven and owned as many manuals as I have driven and owned automatics. People keep saying they don't want the hassle of shifting gears, but I doubt I really think about shifting any more than I think about steering or braking these days when I'm in my 1LS--whether its on city streets or freeway traffic jams, it's all just "driving" to me.

I agree, if you are happy and have fun with what you have then nobody can rightfully say you chose the wrong thing.
Same with V8 or V6, and Coupe or Convertible. Buy what you want and enjoy what you have and dont worry about what others choose.

I went for the automatic, despite all my previous cars being MT, because it's my DD through stop and go traffic 30 miles away to where i work.

I like the manual transmissions. I had a '72 Pinto Auto, '72 Nova with a 3spd, '86 Ranger 5spd, Sable Auto, Celebrity Eurosport Auto, '92 Dynasty Auto, '03 F-150 Auto, '92 Mazda 626 auto, '98 1500 5spd, '11 Camaro 6spd. I have more control, I don't like to wait for the transmission to shift, Camaros are supposed to be driven with manual transmissions. It's nostalgic too. If I ever have the choice, it'll always be a manual, I don't like shelling out $1500.00-$2000.00 for a stupid automatic transmission.

Manual because it is far more fun to drive and more reliable with Power.

I go back and forth. Had a ta 6 speed, g8 gt auto tuned, c5 6 speed and now my camaro auto tuned.
I love my 6 speeds but flip flop to auto making empty promises to the wife about how the next car is "our" car since she can't drive manual.

Why does it matter? People buy different vehicles in different configuration's for different reasons. Such as when I bought my FRS I 2013. I got an Automatic because at the time I was living in Fairbanks Alaska and didn't feel like dealing with a clutch during the winters.

I have a spent a lot of energy, time, and money, learning to operate 3-pedals properly. I detest automatics. Nothing ruins the fun of a good drive more than losing that third pedal.

I bought an M6 because I enjoy driving them over the slushiness of an auto. Also because when trannies fail, they are expensive to repair or replace. They are like a magic black box to me compared to everything else on the car lol. I can swap a clutch though.

I got the 6-speed manual. I wanted more control over the shifting. It is a more sporty driving experience rowing through the gears yourself. I have nothing against the new autos though, just wanted something different this time around. No waiting for an automatic to downshift or upshift. A manual allows you to do it yourself providing crisp clean shifts all the time.

Different Strokes for different folks. Manual, to me, is a lot more fun. I feel like I'm really in complete control, so to speak. Different engine as well, although I don't know if that makes any difference, but I am curious as to what the differences are. Automatics are great as well, with less mechanical intervention on the driver's part. But I have that with my normal Daily driver cars. For my Camaro, I wanted something different. Plus, the wife and kids can't drive it! Yes!

I've owned both manual and automatics all my life. I have an auto now mainly cause its a daily driver with annoyingly traffic filled commutes that I would rarely get out of second gear with a manual.

Both are fine in my opinion, just different amount of input the driver does during the ride.

I learned to drive in a 1967 Galaxie, 390 with a three on the tree. Man I'm glad they stopped doing the column shift manuals. That thing was annoying when the linkage on the column got stuck and you'd have to pop the hood to yank the linkage back into neutral.
