Dealer charged $450 for a motor tear down since cylinder 5 was misfiring and they will replace the injectors for a total of $900 for everything which I am not happy but it is what it is

Sorry man. That seems like a lot of money. Wonder if they even tested the defective injector? I thought the fuel management system was covered under the emissions warranty which is 8/80?

The only emissions the injectors are covered under is the standard federal 2/24.

That's too much for an injector. There is no tear down to diagnose an injector. Are they replacing one or all?

Just an injector and pretty sure they ripped me off and they said I have so much carbon built up and need a tune up but I told them i would take care of that issue. Total $1008 which ill just have to deal with it. Any recomendation on getting the fuel system and carbon cleaned out?

Screw the dealership. Sounds like their doing it to you. I would find a mechanic shop. Use the forum. Maybe some one in your area could tell you.

Well I can tell you at our shop the labor to replace one injector would be about $400 (diag not included), thats 3.2hrs labor at $115/hr.
Not sure what the cost of parts would be but you would need the injector, seal kit (for all injectors), high pressure lines and intake gasket set. Not sure what all they did to diag. the problem. |

450 Diag fee? At 115/hr, it took 3.9 hours to figure out what's wrong? Bull....

Also the dealer should have an AFIT tool to test the flow rate of the injectors to determine which ones are bad, that would be the one hour diag on top of the 3.5 labor. |
